“"Why can't they all be like this?"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Having travelled extensively around the UK, I can safely say that this hotel is one of the very best in terms of comfort, cleanliness, service and value for money. Dave and Jen were marvellous hosts who were very amenable to requests and provided a great deal of local knowledge. Breakfasts were superb and though only a stone's throw from the beach and town, it was pleasantly quiet and felt far further removed. I would thoroughly recommend this to my family/friends and will most definitely return.

Room Tip: Room 4 is a double on the second (top) floor, primarily for single occupancy.

“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Stayed for two nights at this delightful B&B.
This is a very homely place run by a really nice couple who are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great.
The room was beautifully clean with a lovely shower room.
Wifi bit dodgy in the bedroom but were offered the use of their own laptop in the lounge which was great!
Overall a great place to stay with brilliant service and friendliness

“Excellent hotel. Ideal location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

We were so impressed with this lovely little hotel in the town centre of Paignton. It was easy to find. A minute's walk from the shops and beach and about 3 minutes away from the bus and train stations. The hosts were very welcoming and offered lots of advice about places to eat and things to do. Breakfast was freshly cooked every morning with lots to choose from and was delicious! The room was very comfortable. Nicely decorated and very clean. We had no problem parking outside the hotel. Our only small gripe was that the free wi-fi did not work in our room on the top floor. Overall, we were very happy with our stay at the Beresford and would stay there again.

Room Tip: Book directly with the hosts by calling them. You will get a better deal.

“Delightful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

Right from the stary we were treated with great warmth & courtesy. The hotel was ultra clean and well presented and our room was no exception. Common access areas were great as was the location - very near to both the beachfront and the main shopping & eating areas, but sufficiently removed to be quiet. Just a short walk to the railway station. A lift to carry bags to the top floor would have been welcome but our hosts willingly helped out. Jane & Tony

Room Tip: the four-poster bed bedroom has the best views to the beach

“Decent B&B”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

The room was decent and well sized, and it was nice to have some sweets in the room and bed lights by both sides of the bed. The bathroom was okay. Breakfast was alright and the hosts were pleasant. It was nice to have yogurt and fruit available in addition to the normal fry up.

Some attention to cleanliness/make up of the room required - the wastebasket in our bathroom was not emptied before we got there, and was never emptied the entire 3 days we were there. It was full so we had to use the one in our room, which was emptied. The tea and coffee tray in our room was replenished somewhat haphazardly - on the second day, we had biscuits and one hot chocolate packet (not two) and that was already torn/open, and on the third day we had 2 packets of chocolate and no biscuits.

The toilet does not have a place to put the toilet roll, so it has to either sit on the top of the tank or on the toilet roll holder on the floor (!, making it very difficult). Ours was placed on the top of the tank, and I promptly knocked it into the bowl by accident (hence the very full wastebasket in the bathroom). Curtains in our room were light, so if you are a light sleeper who awakes when the sun goes up - bring an eyeshade. Internet connection was non-existent in our room (must be the connection), but okay elsewhere in the house. The lounge is not always available to everyone, but when it is (probably more frequently than not) it is comfortable and a nice place to chill.

Note: rooms are of differing sizes - we had two double rooms (one for single occupancy) and one was larger and more comfortable than the other.
