“ACCESS FOR THE DISABLED”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

Visited for 5days from 6/2/12 Took a look at the front steps and thought oh no. But this hotel has gone to great lengths to accommodate people with disabilities. They have even put in chair lifts to cover the 3 or 4 steps to the dining room. There was no fuss when my mobility scooter arrived, it was charged overnight for me and the ramped access has been done to a high standard. All the staff were very polite and always offered assisstance when I needed it. Travelling alone when disabled means encountering many unforseen difficulties and I hate asking for assisstance but I was not made to feel uncomfortable for asking questions etc.

“Lovely hotel”

Stayed at the Palace with a group of friends from 13th to16th Jan. What a lovely hotel. From the warm welcome to the cheery goodbye I couldn't fault it. All meals were waiter service and I must praise the waiting staff for their courteous manner and happy faces. we were half board and the food was exellent , both for breakfast and dinner. Our room was a sea view room number 69 and was spacious and comfortable. Overall a lovely hotel with good staff who were prepared to go that extra little bit to make your stay a happy one. Dont hesitate to stay at this hotel you wont be disappointed

“Palace Perfection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

On arrival we were given the warmest of welcomes by the manager, who was keen to ensure that everything was to our liking. I had requested a room with a sea view and bath, as this was a special holiday for us. We were given the key to room 54, which is extremely comfortable and well appointed, has views over the bay and also has a tiny balcony accessed via patio doors.

The Palace is a fusion of historical and contemporary styles and is warm and inviting, with a particular charm that makes it a very comfortable place to be. The lounges are lovely, with a couple of open fires which are most welcome at this time of year. The staff were efficient and helpful and seemed to operate as a cohesive team. They seem to intuitively understand that this is your holiday - a precious few days away, and do their best to make sure it is as enjoyable as possible.

The restaurant is pleasant, service efficient and the food is of a very good standard and well presented. There are nice touches - for example hot milk served with coffee, which is something of a rarity these days and the plates were always piping hot.

Access to the leisure centre is outside. Pool towels are provided and you need a £1 coin for the lockers (refundable.)The swimming pool was lovely and warm during our stay.

To sum up, we enjoyed four blissful days at the Palace. A perfect start to a brand new year. I cannot imagine that we would want to stay anywhere else when we are in Devon. The Palace is just delightful, comfortable and great value for money.
