“Impulse weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

I stayed there for two weekend nights in november it was a 10 minute walk into the centre but also on a main bus route. The room was a double very comfortable with tea/coffee biscuits and bottle water available,it was reasonably priced the staff were very helpful and polite would definitely stay again, only negative, although the car park is quite large I had to drive somewhere to a meeting on the saturday and did not get back until 9-00pm there was no parking available because it is very popular both as a pub and for meals. I eventually got parked at 9-40 on the main road about 500 metres away, i would have thought they have enough space in the car park for resident parking, that said i normally would not need to go out in the car at nights when i am away for the weekends

Room Tip: rooms on the east side are quieter

“Best hotel in Wigan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I stayed here for 3 nights in late September, mainly for theTottenham game but also as a base to visit some of the many Industrial Heritage sights in the area. 15 minutes walk from town centre/train stations and on a bus route makes this an attractive option.
Room was comfortable, clean and reasonably priced. The bar/pub downstairs (J D Wetherspoons), where you can have breakfast from 07:00, proved very handy not only for drinks but meals as well. Already planning to stay here again next season, assuming Wigan don't get relegated!

“Not Recommended”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

We found this hotel not very family friendly i'm afraid . Family room No 129 was over the front of the pub and we were kept awake by revellers until 2.40 am. No kids allowed in bar after 9.30, we were ushered to reception with our drinks where we were advised by other members of staff to make it our last drink and to take the kids to the room ! Not Happy ! Also room had a mouldy smell .

“Good Food, Great Beer & not bad rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

Stayed while working in the area as there are no Holiday Inn's in the area.

This pub/hotel is a mile out of town so the pub is more like a suburban local with lovely old regulars. The beer range and quality is very good and the food the two times I have stayed has been very good.

Both rooms I stayed in have been OK solid rooms in which I slept well. One (a single) had a bath & shower, the other (a double) just a shower. Staff are friendly and I am already booked to return.

The best bit is the price. My 2 stays have both cost less than £60 for room, beer, evening meal and breakfast AND I can safely say the beer has been the best I have ever tasted in a hotel and the Steak was also probably one of the best - definatley when it only cost £9.00 with a drink!

Also, as it is a Wetherspoons, there is free wifi in the bar
