First visit to the hotel in mid January 2012 whilst visiting Durham on business. The hotel is in a quiet location, close to the A1 and a 10 minute drive to the centre of Durham. Comfortable room, friendly staff, good dinner and breakfast.

Stayed here for a weekend away after Christmas. We have stayed here before with this time being totally perfect!
Don't believe the negative reports on here, it's all to easy to write a negative report! This hotel is a true haven! The service and staff were of 5*quality.The food was amazing from breakfast till dinner! All home cooked and fresh, no chain muck served up here! My partner is vegan and the Chef was only to happy to create a few different dishes for her! We will be returning in a couple of months for a wedding, can't wait to go back! If only to sample the sea bass!

Lovely location and impressive building but not quite what its made out to be. Some lovely locals working at check in, well furnished however the carpet is well worn in a lot of places and could do with either renewing or having just floorboards but i suspect the latter would be too loud. My room was a single and was really nice barring an outdated bathroom/shower. I would stay again but not for the price I paid this time as I think I got better VFM at Days Inn.

We attended a friends wedding in December and everything was perfect, from the food, the service and the rooms.
