My husband organised a surprise meal for my 60th birthday on 3.2.12. please can I say that we and our guests had a most wonderful evening. We ate in the Rib Room and the food was wonderful as it always is and the service brilliant. Thank you to all who were involved.

Stayed at the Ramside Fri 3 thru Sun 5 February, travelled up from London. Lovely hotel, people so friendly, especially reception staff. We ate in the Pemberton Suite Friday night, excellent value for money, carvery was first class. Didn't find the drinks particuarly expensive, but then I'm use to London prices ! Dined at the Rib & Steakhouse on Saturday evening. The steak I had was excellent, only gripe, took ages to be brought to the table, didn't have time for a sweet or coffee, the restaurant was busy, so guess we could overlook this. The double room we had was enormous, beautifully decorated, gorgeous bathroom, and very comfortable bed. The hotel is just off the A1, very handy for Durham. Would recommend this place to anyone and would definately stay again, thankyou !

Great North East welcome stayed in the Presidential suite for three days what a lovely room and thanks to the Girls for being really swift in cleaning the room
There was a party of eight and we dined in the Rib Room Gianni and his team done a great job food was brilliant every body left happy
We continued to lounge for more drink what a great girl singer and pianist finished the evening off great
Negatives no mini bar/fridge in room had to keep wife's medication in boot of car not ideal for top of range room
Ambiguous reference to Stay and Dine offer you have to pay for breakfast but certain brochures in hotel you get breakfast included
Could not get ice in room unless you bought drink spent over £1000 think the senior management could stretch the budget for a bucket of ice

we have had the pleasure of visiting and staying at the ramside on various occasions the most recent being on the 3/02/12 to the rib room, for my sons birthday once again the food was excellent, the atmosphere is great the waitress we had was very attentive however the one thing that let the night down was the amount of time we had to wait ,we were booked in at 8.30 and took over for an hour for the starter to arrive then the main course came very quickly unfortunately we were unable to have desserts or coffee and time for a chat as we had transport booked, on the plus side my son spoke with the restaurant manager and offered two free sunday lunches, although this was not the reason why we complained it is a very kind gesture after my moan we will definately continue to visit the restaurant as the food is great
