“WOW. What a hotel !!”

Its not often that something surpasses your expectation but this did ! We stayed in the Indigo room which was lovely, with a huge HD TV on the wall and the huge double shower; you cannot fail to be impressed. The room was immaculately clean and as part of staying there we received two valentine cup cakes and Moulton Brown toiletries set. The hotel is very central so only a short stroll into the centre of Durham. Although the hotel was busy, it was also very quiet so we had a great nights sleep. The breakfast in the morning was superb and all locally sourced. The only issue I could see causing problems was that there is no parking, however as we stayed a Sunday night the on street parking was free so that was also good for us!!

“wonderful hotel . . . 1st class !!”

My partner & I stayed here Friday . . . . .i cannot fault this place at all. From arrival the staff were extremely pleasant & helpful, the decor in the hotel is very sumptuous & decadent.
We stayed in Le Jardin our room/lodge was a treat with grass effect carpet, nice decoration & mini sauna, the bathroom has a roll top bath with separate shower which was amazing, the room looks out over Durham cricket ground it has its own decked balcony with hot tub, it was quite private (no feeling of being overlooked at all). We didnt eat in the restaurant, however when we return (definately) we will !!!

“First class from the moment you enter”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Visited Gadds for a Friday night meal with my girlfriend and another couple for the first time. I'm quite well travelled and this place is unique, with a very decadent Victorian / yet modern design. The service was first class, the cuisine is of high quality, with generous portion sizes. A decent priced wine is around £20 per bottle...we had 4...and not the usual £.5.99 Tesco wine with a massive price hike. Overall 4 people had starting drinks, a 3 course meal and 4 bottles of wine between us for £200. Even though the restaurant was full the ambience suited both intimate encounetrs and meals with friends. Not only first class in relation to the experience but also great value. Will definately return.

“Wonderful Stay!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed in Gadds Townhouse for my birthday, and this being our first visit to Durham we were very pleased with the central location of the hotel, to enable us to explore the wonderful city!
The moment we entered the hotel, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful! Nothing was too much trouble.
Our room was very impressive and no expense spared on the room finish, and most of all clean and comfortable.
We chose to eat in the hotel restaurant, and were not disappointed! the food was amazing and in a lovely relaxed atmosphere made my night really special.
All in all, our stay was a very comfortable, and luxurious experience and cant wait to return!!

“Impressed on all fronts!”

It would not take much more effort from this restaurant to convince me to award it a 5 out of 5,as our party was impressed on all fronts!
