I use a number of hotels in the Barrow area due to my work commitments. The Fairway is a reliable option that rarely fails to disappoint.
I've been staying at this venue for six years on and off and the improvements that management have introduced in that time indicate that they are just not accepting of the current standards. The rooms are well appointed, with the usual tea and coffee, iron and board and TV which has Sky Sports which is pumped in from the bar. The rooms are, as a rule, spacious. The rooms did have a mix of shower or bath at one time, but it seems that the management have now decided towards the former en masse and have been converting the rooms accordingly.
The breakfast/restaurant appears slightly dated, but the 'waiting staff' are very friendly and helpful. The restaurant provides evening meals and 'Sunday specials' and the quality is very good. My only warning would be that as the hotel is a regular haunt for business people, you might find that the milk and fruit juice need to be specially ordered if you are not prepared to rise with the larks at breakfast time.
My only complaint with the hotel results from its build structure. On occasion 'noisy neighbours' can lead to the odd restless night as the building is not bricks and mortar and as a result the odd bump in the night can prove louder than expected.
Located down a few windy single tracks, the hotel provides ample parking and, for those who feel the need, a golf driving range and 9 hole pitch and putt, which used to have a pond in front of the 'first' green which has seen many of my golf balls.
