Stayed in the Fairway Hotel for a total of 6 nights early June 2011. First impressions were good as i was greeted by the receptionist who then kindly opened the bar for me as it was around 4pm. The food was very nice with a good selection ans well priced. One thing i would mention is that on my first night I got a side order of mushrooms with my meal and there were 11 medium sized mushrooms. On the second night a decided to have them again as i enjoyed them so much. On this occasion i only got 5 very small ones. Not a one to moan i simply tucked in. Maybe a change in chef that night !!! The bar always seemed very quiet even though the hotel was nearly fully booked.

Rooms were very spacious with a good size powerful shower, the taps didnt bother me at all !! Bed was pretty comfy and having sky sports 1,2 & 3 in your room is a dream.

Overall a very good hotel with friendly staff and good food.

I recently stayed at the Fairway Hotel whilst visiting Barrow on business. The hotel is quite remote, although a very easy commute. I had a few problems trying to book online, so phoned up - service was very friendly and helpful from that point onwards. Received an e-mail confirmation, and friendly responses to any questions I had. I requested a double room with shower on the upper floor, and that is exactly what I got. Check in was quick and easy, I was told the restaurant opening times and given directions to find my room. The room itself was surprisingly large, with modern furniture with lots of storage (2 two door wardrobes, several drawers and cupboards), tea/coffee making facilities, TV, iron and ironing board. Free Wi-fi is also available. I would tend to agree with some of the previous reviews regarding the taps in the bathroom - they are a little irritating, but not the end of the world. The shower was excellent.
Breakfast had the usual buffet style cereal and yogurts, cooked breakfasts can be ordered from the menu.
The food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced considering the portions are quite large, service was also very good.
Would use this hotel again if I am in the area.

I stayed here for a night and found the Hotel lounge, bar and restaurant to be very dated. My room, although spacious was quite dusty and the taps in the bathroom annoyed me - obviously to stop people from using water!!! The food in the restaurant was very expensive for what you got which was just basic pub grub. Very poor value for money, there are other far better Hotels in the Barrow area.

Very pleasant helpful staff, genuinely welcoming. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and rooms quite. A very varied menu , both breakfast and evening. The food was excellent, and portions more than ample ( I am a big eater). Prices of the evening meals were very reasonable, and the bar prices also. Only one dislike was the lift with no enclosed walls, however as we were only on the 1st floor this was hardly an issue.
We intend going back for a longer break next year, and will certainly be using this hotel.
Very highly recommended.
