Inside the hotel is as expected. Clean, functional rooms. Its quiet, there is no external noise despite being beside the main road into Barrow. Good selection of Freeview channels for a change.
The location is a bit rubbish. The nearest place for breakfast is Asda over the road, you have to drive to get a beer or an evening meal.
But otherwise ok.

It's really difficult to compose a review about a Travelodge because once you close the hotel door and curtains they are all basically the same and you could be anywhere, however this wasn't the cleanist travelodge I've stayed in and the location is a bit grim,that apart as with all hotels in this group it's comfortable and quiet which gaurantees a good night's sleep.

I'll make this one quick - for £49 a night it is what it is - clean, tidy, totally without charisma, a safe place to sleep. The rooms have something of a prison cell feel about them - but they are bright and tidy. The bed is small but adequate. There's no breakfast included - the location is woeful (stuck right out in the middle of an industrial estate) and the staff are stretched. It's fine for salesmen and people en-route to somewhere else but it's not somewhere you'd have your honeymoon !

My wife and I stayed here for two nights at the end of September 2006. It's a Travelodge, so you get a basic, simple, no-frills service; however, if this is what you go for (as I generally do) then this will suit you perfectly. The Travelodge at Barrow is clean, well-maintained and has new fittings. Our room was tidy and well-kept, and everything worked. The staff were friendly and helpful. Another plus point is the security - the door to the corridors, stairs etc., is locked and you need your key card to open it. Also the window in our room was restricted - could be opened for fresh air but not so wide that an intruder could get in. The Travelodge is situated on the edge of an industrial estate on the outskirts of Barrow, not really within easy walking distance of the town proper; however, assuming you have come by car, the hotel is well placed for a straightforward drive into the lakes area, by way of Ulverston, and would make an excellent, low-cost base for a Lake District holiday.
