Just returned from one night at the Lonsdale and we all loved this hotel. It only has 10 bedrooms and a little bar, which is only open at weekends. The staff were very welcoming and the hotels key selling point has to be it's location - only a few mins walk from the centre of Bowness and it has a small car park at the rear. The rooms were very comfortable, we stayed in room 1 - family room with a double bed and 2 singles, the shower room was quite small but was perfectly adequate for our short stay.

Overall, very good and we all agreed that we would stay here again.

My 2 daughters and I stayed here in December and what a lovely stay we had. The Hotel is more a guest house but a very cosy one. The lounge and bar area are lovely and we enjoyed a drink and a game of scrabble after a day out sightseeing in this lovely town and area. The room was comfortable and clean and the caraffe of sherry was a lovely touch, but I must say the bathroom was very small and the shower even smaller! The best thing about the place is Andrew the Manager who greeted us warmly at the door when we arrived carrying our luggage to our room and generally making us feel very welcome, when he wasn't there over the weekend it wasn't quite the same. While the other staff are friendly they don't quite have that little bit extra that Andrew can offer to guests. I would recommend this hotel.

Thank you, thank you for making our honey moon so special. We really had the best stay. We were on a tight budget and we did not expect to stay somewhere as nice and as special as the Lonsdale for the price we paid. Staff amazing and so welcoming and helpful. Ask Andrew for advise on some great walks. Breakfast was amazing and we did not need any lunch. The room was clean with plenty of space and lovely decor. I can not praise this place enough and we will definately return and recommend to friends and family.

After booking a holiday cottage in the middle of nowhere for the week in kentmere (big mistake!) we decided to have one night in bowness on Windermere that we had stumbled across the day before. It is so much better than Windermere itself, with lots of interesting and shops and restaurants. We picked Lonsdale house from trip advisor and gave them a ring, a very pleasant man answered and said the room rate was £55 and that he'd give us a last minute upgrade to a four poster room! On arrival, we had a warm welcome by Andrew (who gave us some of the best customer service we have ever received during our stay!) and were shown to our room. The room itself was small, but clean with complimentary sherry. The stay was wonderful overall with top-notch service throughout. The bar was small and cosy for an evening drink and we asked Andrew advice on where to go for dinner and were recommended the best places to go in the town which was very handy. Breakfast was very good also. Would highly recommend!
