We stayed at the Lonsdale House during February 2012 and had a great stay. The Hotel has a brilliant location and is really easy to find on the main road into Bowness-on-Windermere. You can walk into Bowness in a couple of minutes and the lake is no more than a five minute walk (downhill) away.
We were in room 11 which is the "apartment" room. It was lovely, clean, great size and situated away from the main house. The room had a en-suite, tea and coffee facilities with biscuits, a TV with DVD player and a complimentary jug of Sherry. Room looked out over the car park and some houses which isnt the best view but I was told you could get lake view rooms. Breakfast was great, full English with Eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, mushrooms, tomatoes. Toast, yogurts and cereals also available and a variety of fruit juice. Bar area is lovely and reasonably priced for a few drinks in the evening.
Staff were wonderful and friendly and will give you brilliant advise on restaurants, walks and places to visit.
My only slight complaints are about the car park, very small and there was a bit of a situation when we were leaving Sunday morning with other guest blocking other cars in. However the staff were really great with sorting it all out.
