Having booked a room over 6 weeks in advance to attend a wedding in the Lake District, I contacted the Melbourne 3 days prior to my booking, just out of courtesy, to check everything was ok. I was then told a `cock and bull` story that they had suffered some water damage over christmas and that they were in fact closed and had tried to contact all the guests that had bookings, to advise them of this. But they hadn`t contacted me despite having my phone number and email address. I got somebody to phone the same week and ask about availability and they were told they were open! I strongly suspect they wanted a 2 or more night booking in place of my 1 night booking. It took me several hours and phone calls to find another accomodation, thanks Melbourne for your un-professional and un-caring attitude. You are a disgrace to the hotel industry.
