“What a fantastic place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Me and fiance stayed here for just one night for a short weekend break. Upon arrival Alan was most friendly, he gave us a choice of rooms (both of which were stylishly decorated and very welcoming). Showed us the local sites on a map and gave us a quick tour around the hotel.
We had a great time here, the staff can't do enough to help you, the breakfast was very tasty indeed and our overall stay couldn't have been better.
Will definitely be coming back here!

“Excellent one night stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed here on 29th November for just the one night. This was a planned stop over for us on our way to Perth from Devon. We arrived late afternoon, and received a very warm and friendly welcome. We were shown the small bar area, and where breakfast would be served in the morning, and we were also shown a couple of bedroom options.

We had booked the Courtyard Suite and decided to stay there, mainly due to its size and location. It was accessed from the rear of the property, and away from the road (not sure if its a busy road or not). It was called a suite, but not what everyone would expect a suite to be - it was only one very large room, with a lounge area and bedroom area that were partitioned off with a large bookcase. The room is very eleganyly furnished, nice throw and cushions on the bed, and there was a lovely tea/coffee selection and biscuits.

The bed was very comfy with high quality bed linens and offered us a good nights sleep, and the acccommodation was lovely and warm.

Compared to the size of the bedroom, the bathroom was quite small and it was not as modern as the other room we had been shown, but it was spotlessly clean.

We walked down into the town for dinner, it was only a ten minute walk, well worth it as there is a nice selection of eateries, we took a taxi back to the hotel, which was only about £3/£4.

Breakfast - I must say was one of the nicest we have ever had, all freshly cooked and presentation with excellent, along with good quality toast.

All in all we would recommend The Woodlands for anyone requiring accommodation in the Lake District, and we will certainly stay here the next time we are in this area.

“Relaxing weekend break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Woodlands is a lovely guest house and perfect for a short break. We were given a choice of rooms to chose from so luckily got a room with a four poster bed. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, didn't see the owners but 2 staff were always on hand if you needed anything.

Woodlands is a short walk from Bowness or Windermere centre so perfect for exploring and going for meals out.

January is very quiet and a lot of restaurants were closed on Friday and Saturday which was a bit disappointing.

The only downside was that we were in a room next to a couple with a small child. We could hear him crying most of the time, and using loud musical toys at breakfast. Obviously not the Woodland's fault but it did highlight a need for soundproofing.

I'd definitely recommend it as a friendly and comfortable base for exploring the Lakes.

Room Tip: Room 7 was nice :)

“Perfect and peaceful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

After not going away without the kids for 11 years! This was a perfect place to go. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful and the special treat I requested for my wife was wonderful! The breakfast was the best we had ever had and the waitress was a morning delight of helpfulness! We had the afternoon tea which was again perfect!!! This was a perfect perfect break and we totally recommend the woodlands ! Thanks again Pete and Marianne

“Welcoming and warm”

The staff were very friendly and helpful upon arrival. We were taken to a lovely large room with an equally large ensuite. The room was brilliant, well decorated and quiet. We were above the kitchens though so could hear quite a bit of walking around from about 7am onwards. The breakfast was absolutely beautiful, by far the best ive ever had at a hotel before. Great location in between winderemere and bowness with private car park.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back if you prefer quiet as it is on quite a busy road!
