We stayed here on 29th November for just the one night. This was a planned stop over for us on our way to Perth from Devon. We arrived late afternoon, and received a very warm and friendly welcome. We were shown the small bar area, and where breakfast would be served in the morning, and we were also shown a couple of bedroom options.
We had booked the Courtyard Suite and decided to stay there, mainly due to its size and location. It was accessed from the rear of the property, and away from the road (not sure if its a busy road or not). It was called a suite, but not what everyone would expect a suite to be - it was only one very large room, with a lounge area and bedroom area that were partitioned off with a large bookcase. The room is very eleganyly furnished, nice throw and cushions on the bed, and there was a lovely tea/coffee selection and biscuits.
The bed was very comfy with high quality bed linens and offered us a good nights sleep, and the acccommodation was lovely and warm.
Compared to the size of the bedroom, the bathroom was quite small and it was not as modern as the other room we had been shown, but it was spotlessly clean.
We walked down into the town for dinner, it was only a ten minute walk, well worth it as there is a nice selection of eateries, we took a taxi back to the hotel, which was only about £3/£4.
Breakfast - I must say was one of the nicest we have ever had, all freshly cooked and presentation with excellent, along with good quality toast.
All in all we would recommend The Woodlands for anyone requiring accommodation in the Lake District, and we will certainly stay here the next time we are in this area.
