We travel to the lakes a lot, at least once a month and pass the hotel drive and never once visited. My wife booked this on a Travelzoo offer (DBB plus bottle of wine and small afternoon tea) for this weekend and I'm glad she did as this was exceptional value. The staff are friendly and helpfull, the rooms wonderfully clean and spacious and the food is fine dining at its best.

The hotel is very relaxing and quiet, couldn't fault it or the staff and how can anyone give this hotel and average or poor rating but hey, can't please everyone and I'm glad they're in the minority. More a reflection on them I say.

Look for offers directly on the hotels website as well as the discount sites particularly at off-peak periods.

My wife and I spent a night at Lindeth Howe recently when we went for a short getaway break in the Lakes. We chose it on the basis of other Tripadvisor reviews, and are glad we did. The staff were friendly and attentive (particularly Maggie in reception), though not too informal, and the room was comfortable and felt special enough (especially with views of the lake) without being too ostentatious. The spa and pool is small but still very nice (although may have been less pleasant if the hotel was busier). The food in the restaurant was superb - fortunately justifying the slightly higher than average prices. Overall, this is not somewhere to stay if you're looking for a budget break, but you get what you pay for and on that basis we can highly recommend it.

Again, cannot fault this hotel - Only stayed one night Jan 2012 but the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely and the standard of food is excellent, canapes served in front of a roaring fire in the very comfortable lounge, the dinner is superb with excellent service. We will be back!

I never normally write reviews but this hotel was that special it had to be done ......I have just retured from a one night stay (14.01.12) When checking in it came to light that I had booked the wrong day but the staff were so helpful they said dont panic we will sort everything, a room was ready in minutes with a bottle of wine waiting on ice! The rooms were spacious and clean but really cosy at the same time and a very comfortable bed. Food - i can not describe in words how beautiful this was - massive compliments to the chef. I chose this night away to propose to my partner i could not of chosen a nicer place. The waiters must have seen me go down on one knee and we were congratulated with glasses of champagne and a slate with canapes with congratulations wrote on - what a lovely touch made the night that extra bit special this will always be a special memory to use.
