“lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

kgb deal, with husband 2 children and dog. Hotel lovely and welcoming, especially the warm fires. Room great the children had bunkbeds and their own tv in what my daughter called her own apartment! Very spacious and warm. Resturant, we ate there on both nights we enjoyed it alot. The staff were very nice and couldn't do enough for us. It had been snowing and the grounds looked beutiful.

“Disappointing room but great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

We decided to visit the Burnside Hotel for a long weekend for my husbands birthday. We were offered a good deal on a suite but it still cost £100 per night so we had high expectations! Unfortunately we were very disappointed, the decor was dated and the bed was uncomfortable. On looking around our disappointment increased as we saw many other rooms had been renovated so we felt we had been stuck in a bad room because of the good offer.
On the plus side the room was spotlessly clean, the location of the hotel could not have been better and the breakfast was fantastic!

“Weekend with Friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed as part of a deal that included bed breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meal. I think sometimes with these deals, in any hotels, it can be very disapointing. But this wasnt the case. Firstly the Hotel is within walking distance of the lake, and the shops, and a few pubs which is ideal. The rooms are spacious and modern and ours overlooked the long sweeping drive up to the Hotel. Afternoon tea served in the bar was delicious!! The evening meal was also very good - a good choice and top restaurant standard. Nice weekend away and we will be going back.

Room Tip: 132 - large room and overlooks the long drive and lake

“3 night getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

We have stayed at this hotel three times now, and have always had a nice stay.
This time, with it being our 10th wedding anniversary we decided to splash out and get the penthouse suite, room 238. The room was fabulous and set over 3 floors. The bathroom had a separate shower and bath, toilet and bidet!! The bedroom up 3 steps and then the lounge area up another 3 or 4 steps, with double doors out onto a balcony overlooking the lake.
There was a tv in the bedroom and the lounge with a dvd player in the lounge as well.
We were greeted with a bottle of champagne in our room on arrival.
We stayed on DBB basis. For a charge of £10 we had breakfast in the room for two of the mornings. The dinner menu was different every night and the food was nice, service was a little slow but the staff were lovely.
The hotel is clean and tidy and the leisure center has plenty to offer with a nice, warm pool to relax in.
I would recommend this hotel when staying at Bowness as it is so close to all the amenities and has a lovely feel. Especially nice is the open fire in the lounge, perfect for warming up after a cold walk outside. The room was always lovely and warm too which is really important to me as I hate being cold!!

Room Tip: Choose the penthouse!! Well worth the extra cost.

Just returned from a 2 ngt stay with kgb voucher we stayed in a twin room which had its own entrance and had access for wheelchair. The room was very nicely decorated and clean and tidy had a big bathroom with over the bath shower. We were very toasty and walm We found all the staff including the staff on reception friendly and helpfull. The hotel is situated about 5 mins walk from the lake and town. Several bars and resturants and centrally located for kendal windermere and ambleside all within a few miles. We took full advantage of spa facilitys all free spa steam room jacuzzi and pool. We would recommend and return again.
