“Poor value - couldn't believe the small attic room for £ 127 per night - more boarding house than boutique !!”

Stayed in Weymouth to be near ferry to Jersey the following morning and read good reviews about the Chandlers boutique hotel. Although the price was high at £ 127 for a double room.
On arrival payment was taken by credit card before we saw the room which turned out to be a small attic room with a glass dormer window. The temperature of the room must have been in the nineties with only a small window for ventilation. The ensuite was poor quality.
The night had to be endured and certainly was not enjoyed. We needed to be at the ferry for 8am and breakfast was served from 7:30 giving little time to enjoy the breakfast. No effort was made to start breakfast earlier and it was after 7:30 before the dining room was unlocked to allow entry. The breakfast was not a full English but a choice of 2 items and when we saw the choices couldn't believe it. Needless to say don't stay there.

“A classy guesthouse in Weymouth”

We used The Chandlers as a base for a couple of days walking around the area. The guest house is immaculate and the owners friendly, however the room was certainly very cosy for the price paid. A bit of a disappointment given we'd spent all day walking & would love to have slumbered in our room & enjoyed a hot shower (rather than a warm shower).

The location of The Chandlers is good, just on the edge of town & in walking distance of everything. The breakfast menu has a daily special & is well presented, high quality & decent quantity to set you up for the day.

If you are after a good cup of coffee & cake head to the Orange Cup Cafe on the beach front, with some local art displayed & comfy chairs.

“Another fabulous stay at The Chandlers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2011

I stayed at the Chandlers for the second time during May 2011. Myself and my husband had a fabulous time, the standards at the b&b are still very high, the rooms are very well decorated and very clean and comfortable. I stayed in a superior room this time, which was beautiful. Breakfast was again an absolute delight. The owners are very friendly and helpful, very glad I came back, and I am sure I will be back again when I am in Weymouth next.

If you are looking for a central b&b with parking and easy access to the beach and shops, this is the perfect place to stay. Definately worth the money.

Thank you very much to Mark and Di for making us so welcome and for a very pleasant weekend and a first class breakfast. We very much enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending the Chandlers most highly - we will return again.

“Best guest house in Weymouth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

I have stayed in Weymouth for a couple of nights most weeks for the lat 2 years - and have tried many places to stay. Chandlers is my place of choice.

The Chandlers is a guest house not a hotel (which seems to be a point negative reviews have not grasped). The few rules they ask visitors to abide by are in my view to the benefit of other guests - and no different to the way any decent person would behave in their own home.

If you want a central location (with parking), cleanliness, clean bedding and towels and a hearty breakfast they deliver. Its not the cheapest in town but in my view you get what you pay for

Mark and Diane the owners have become friends. In 2 years I have only seen them be polite and courteous to fellow guests.
