Enjoyed our break, Warm welcome, lovely breakfast and views too die for.

Very well placed in Dufton, ideal for walking. For a 4 star B & B this is not up to the same standard as many others of the same rating. Although adequate, areas such the welcome and a make over for the room are desirable.

Walking into Dufton on the Pennine way, it was nice to see the well appointed B&B on the route in. Unfortunatley Wendy had been called away urgently and we had to let ourselves in. The sitting room was pleasant and there was an area to the rear of the property to dry our gear. We were unable to access our twin bedded room because it had not been cleaned, the bin was full and the beds had not be made up since the previous occupants. The bathroom and specifically the toilet was dirty. Clearly due to Wendy's absence either she or a third party had not had time to make the room ready for us! To be fair on her arrival she apologised and quickly resolved the situation. The breakfast was ok and the other rooms ok. The bottom line is, don't go into B&B catering if your to busy with other activities, clearly Wendy was busy elsewhere and she really did not need the added issues playing host to walkers! Guests need to feel welcome and comfortable, if you cannot deliiver that then everything else by association is fairly meaningless.

Room was comfortable but on arrival there was no loo roll in bathroom and no milk for the tea making facilities which we had to ask for. The breakfast was average but probably the worst aspect was the service which was not at all welcoming and not attentive. Location is good for the Pennine way.
