I had excitedly booked to stay for new year booking a superior room at the cost of £237 including gala dinner n disco in the barn function room. I had been recommended by a friend and had done my research by checking the hotels website. I was taken in by the new York loft style and ultra modern glossy superior rooms shown on the website, to ensure this is what I got I made sure to request a superior room. From the pictures on the website it shows 4 rooms 2 being 4 poster modern and the other 2 new York style, the other rooms shown and described as being standard and family suites. I was really looking forward to getting ready for the gala dinner in the plush surroundings.....Check in was fine, we were given our key and shown to where our room was - in the courtyard. As soon as I got to the door I had a sinking feeling which turned to despair when I got into my so called superior room, it was dark dingy and dated, did not represent the superior room photo on the website, it was actually a 'suite' the one pictured with the stone fireplace. To be fair I wouldn't even describe it as a suite more like a holiday cottage with separate travel lodge esque bedroom, granny's lounge and a small bathroom with a bath smaller n skinnier than the one I have at home apart from this one had a couple of jets. My fiance knew that I was upset and persuaded me to go and speak with the man at front desk. I explained that I had not wanted a suite and that it was also very dark in the accommodation, I was not comfortable it was a bt spooky, I asked if I could change rooms and was told they had 1 left but it was more like a house than a hotel room, and was shown to another "suite". This one was even darker and spookier I was greeted by a dark wood stair case and ventured up the stairs to what I can only describe as the granny flat, living room complete with camp bed and a kitchen, huge LCD tv that only had 2 working channels, fridge that didn't work with a note inside saying broken! Bearing in mind this is jersey farm renowned for its good food and locally sourced produce, you would expect enough milk to make a coffee, but no there was 4 of them tiny long life milk sachets with a meager standard selection of 4 tea bags and nescaf with a home made biscuit which looked like a dinosaur laughable really! The bathroom was modern the bath big and clean can't say I enjoyed using it though as I just felt really let down by the rest of the place, the bathroom was the only part of what i should have had for my £237!! The bedrooms yes there was 2 looked like something out of the 1930's and the bed was rock hard, the room musty and a bit spooky. Gala dinner was just another big let down, the service was abysmal we werent offered any drinks and my fiance had to keep going to the bar, i would had opted for a bottle of wine if id been given a wine list but didnt get that option, going outside for a ciggeratte was tretchiurous as the floors were wet and slippy. Food was not great, carvery, the meat was stringy and tastless, desert was not good either, I opted for chocolate orange torte and a bit of tiramusu neither of which tasted of coffee or orange. It all felt very school canteen as they did the rounds with coffee plates of food from the main course still waiting to be cleared away. My fiancé and I retreated to our room aka the granny flat imeddiatley after dinner as I became very unwell and was violently sick. We did not go back to the function and unfortuntley spent the rest of the night feeling like crap! I really had high expectations for Jersey Farm the website makes it look fantastic but it's not. We didn't bother with breakfast, i just wanted to get home. I thought I was going to stay in a modern trendy hotel room and what I ended up with was a granny flat complete with oak beams and a camp bed with a dodgy stomach and no new year celebrations. What should have been new year to remember will be but for all the wrong reasons.
