Was booked in by my company whilst on a course, found it be be in need of a refurb BADLY.
Bedroom was ok although bathroom was looking very weary. The coating on the bath was flaking off and the toilet roll holder was hanging off the wall. The shower was okThe lights in the bedroom were all energy saving which I don't mind but it was not good enough to study by and there was no decent light.
Food in the restaurant I thought was overpriced and what I did eat was poor. I ordered a Ham Mushroom and onion omelette with boiled potatoes one evening. There was no onion in the omelette (which was a mess) and the potatoes had skins on and had obviously been sitting around for some time. The waiter said he would speak to the chef (maybe he did but I didn't get any feedback.
I waited 15-20 mins one morning to get served for breakfast by which time it was too late to order a cooked breakfast as I needed to be out. Scrambled eggs one morning were disgusting. You don't expect to have to wait that long for breakfast (or I don't anyway). The waiter apologised and said he was on his own (sorry pal but not my problem).
Most of the staff were polite and obliging.

We stayed at the beverely arms just for a couple of days away, my friend reccomended it but you get what you pay for, we thought by the pictures it look good value for money but when we got there and the room was awfull! the only clean thing was the towels,the room smelt like sick there was a strong smell on the side of the bed where someone had obviously pewked on the carpet the window was open to clear smell. Then to look around at spot the cobweb and pubic hair, the bed valance was dirty and carpet needed a vacuum let alone a clean!! Breakfast was basic and not worth price ran out of bread for toasting machine glasses and cups were stained tables needed a cloth to cover tat, dont stay there if you like the nicer things in life on your jollys!!!!!

Arrived to find blocked drains in car park and a very bad eggy smell in the entrance, staff were ok but a little half hearted and none plussed.
Car park full at 16.30 but seemed it was being used by locals to visit the shops as after sitting there 10 mins people did go and arrive, odd as thought it was private.
Room we stayed at the front which is apparently better than the newer section at the back - stayed in both and the back rooms were fairly poor the room we stayed in was cold, tired, poorly lit and not terribly clean. Bed was shocking and the furniture in general looked like it was from a tip. Let's hope it gets some well deserved TLC and money spent on a full refurb as not dies it need it. 78.00 pounds per night - way too expensive I'm afraid far better off at a travel lodge/premier inn (for now). Real shame as great location and a lovely old building (at the front at least) the back is not so pleasent.

Stayed here January 2012, this hotel has plenty going for it but is badly let down by the quality of the rooms, the location of the hotel is fantastic, all the staff were very helpful and polite, the restaurant was good and breakfast was freshly cooked, however the state of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired.

Our room layout and size was good but the fittings were all dated and needed a VERY GOOD CLEAN !!!!!

On enquiring about our friends room, we thought our room was dirty until we saw our friends room, it was filthy, the carpet had an iron burn, grime and dead flies on the window sill, dirty windows, seeing all this from the doorway I did not want to go any further into the room !!

The staff are let down badly by the owners of this hotel, all the staff were very pleasant and helpful, service is good but they cannot do anything about the quality of the rooms, the owners must back them with some investment to modernise and to employ staff to clean.

Beverley is a lovely place, good pubs and historic buildings, I would recommend a visit, but there must be better places to stay than the Beverley Arms Hotel
