Having just returned from a weekend watching Bideford Carnival and Massed Pipe bands we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, yes its a little dated, but the welcome was great and the staff were more than obliging, all meals were great and I left the table full.It is two star, if you want RItz prices and style then go to the Ritz. I dont know many places where £40 gives you great value for a cheap weekend away with superb views.
Not everyone's cup of tea granted, but it certainly was ours ! Thankyou everyone at Riversford for making our stay so nice. Our parents love the place too and keep going back. Cheers.

We stayed in the family room (2 adults and 3 kids). It was bright, clean and spacious with fantastic views of the river.
We had a good, hearty evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast was also excellent.
The hotel is a little dated in decor but we felt the excellent price, good food and level of space and cleanliness more than compensated.

The hotel is a lovely building on the outskirts of Bideford.The gardens were well looked after and inviting and the view from our bedroom and in the dining room was stunning. The room we were in seemed somewhat dated. The carpets were very worn and the bathroom fittings outdated. The hotel has the potential to be excellent but is in need of modernisation.

That said, there was a good choice for breakfast in a very nice dining room overlooking the water, free car parking on site, and helpful and friendly staff. Rates were very reasonable.

Spent the night in the Honeymoon Suite - No bride would ever go there willingly. Furniture at least 30 years old, carpet poor, bathroom smelt which is not surprising as it is carpeted and this must also be 30 years old! Found poo left in toilet so obviously not cleaned. 4 poster very rickety with dead insects in folds of curtains. Dinner also poor, nothing fresh. Only good points the view and the breakfast was pretty good.
