“Quite superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2010

My wife and mum-in-law and I stayed here during the last leg of a driving tour around the Highlands and I have to say we were very impressed. Our hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, and advised us on some lovely places to eat in Callander (they were spot on too!). The rooms were spacious, tastefully decorated and well-appopinted, having a wall mounted LCD TV with full Sky package - something I really appreciated as my team were playing that night on Sky Sports! The rooms and the bathrooms were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was superb and I can highly recommend the full Scottish. The town of Callander is a few minutes walk away, and although there isn't an awful lot to do it is a nice wee place. I would unhesitatingly recommend The Knowe to anyone.

“Dissapointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2009

Our room was not deserving of the 4 star rating, the room was not clean an had cobwebs, the most disgusting thing was when I went to make a cup of tea, the tea pot had mouldy tea and mouldy tea bags in, goodness knows how long they had been there didnt give the immpression of cleanliness.
Have stayed in better 3 star than this.

“Not bad, but have stayed in better.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2009

We stayed here for a couple of nights and the experience was okay - nothing really wrong with it, but nothing really great either. Our room was spacious and pleasantly decorated but the bathroom could definitely do with a makeover - especially the dusty artificial fern in the corner and the window that wouldn't close. The bed creaked really loudly when you turned over and some of the towels had seen better days. Breakfast was good with quite a good choice - we especially liked the fresh fruit. The breakfast room and the guest lounge were both nice. The owners were friendly and welcoming enough, though we got the impression they'd been doing the job a long time and were getting a bit complacent. You certainly didn't get the feeling that nothing would be too much trouble! Compared with other B&Bs, we could not really say we felt The Knowe deserved its 4 star rating. Perhaps the thing that spoiled it for us was that the B&B we'd just come from at Fort William (Torlinnhe Guest House) was absolutely fantastic. Would we stay at The Knowe again? Hmm, all things considered, probably not.

“excellent Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2009

We stayed for three nights at the Knowe and had a great time there.
The breakfast was excellent, the room was really comfortable and had good options (fridge, dvd player, etc...)
Our hosts were really nice and went out of their way to help my husband with his digital camera problem.
I would definitely recommend the Knowe!

“Great break at The Knowe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2008

Me & my boyfriend, my parents, & my brother stayed at The Knowe for 4 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend whilst in town for a wedding, and we had a lovely time!
The B&B is quite small, but very well presented with lovely modern rooms, 3 doubles and 1 twin. We took 3 out of 4 rooms up, but I didn't get a good look at the twin room. The rooms are a very good size, all with new carpets, wardrobe, dressing table, sofa, ensuite bathroom, fridge, tea & coffee stuff, & wall-mounted tv with full Sky package. And wi-fi in the rooms too, although they only guarantee it in the resident's lounge downstairs, as bad weather can affect it!
The B&B is just 5mins walk down to the main street which has all the usual town amenities you could need, nice restaurants & pubs etc. The walk back is up a small hill, so not ideal for those with walking difficulties, but is on a nice quiet street, we never heard a peep out of the neighbours (although apparantly a local screech owl has been heard by some guests!).
The hosts are absolutely lovely: friendly, accomodating, & unintrusive. They serve up an excellent breakfast (I can highly recommend the full scottish with haggis!), with plenty of choice, between 8.30 & 9am, though they pushed it back an hour for us the day after the wedding as we were the only guests! They were very helpful wih recommending local attractions, and there is a good selection of leaflets & menu's in the residents lounge to help with decision making. Oh, and they have a very sweet german shepherd dog! : )
Callander is a real wedding hotspot, and I really can't recommend the Knowe highly enough for a stop-over or for a longer break. We've had a lovely time, and I'd like to think we'll be back!
