“Very hospitable and welcoming, highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

We really had a wonderful stay at Arden House, Ian and William were very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant stay. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delicious and there was lots of different choices including home made bread and a special dish of the day. The view from Arden House is lovely and there are lots of nice walks from the house. We will definitely be going back!

“A great place for a break in the Trossachs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2010

Staying at Arden House is a real pleasure, it's a home from home with all the advantages of spectacular countryside. The hosts, William and Ian are very welcoming, full of good advice on where to eat and where to visit, and serve fantastic breakfasts together with home made fruit cake and shortbread on arrival. Rooms are beautifully furnished, beds very comfortable, and all are themed as Arden House has links with Dr. Finlay's Casebook, the lounge is beautifully furnished and a great place just to relax. It's small and intimate, only a few minutes walk from the centre of Callander, but far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the countryside nesting next to wooded walks.

“Wonderful house in fantastic location with excellent hosts.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2010

My wife and I have recently returned from a 5 night stay at Arden House. We have to say that it is one of the best guest houses we've ever been in our 30 years travelling together.
The beautiful detached Victorian house is situated up a quiet road and has fantastic views over Callander and the stunning countyside beyond.
Inside, Arden House is decorated in keeping with it's links to the TV drama "Dr Finlay's Casebook". Nice touches such as the rooms being named after characters from the series makes it feel like somewhere unique and not just any B&B. The standard of house-keeping is immaculate and the attention to detail shown by the owners Ian & William second to none.
Nothing is a problem to these guys, and their knowledge of the area and attractions certainly saved us a lot of time when planning our days out.
And then there is the breakfasts. so much choice and enough to keep any healthy appetite satisfied. (Try the Haggis Hash Special!)
We can not think of anywhere that you will get a warmer welcome and such a relaxed and comfortable stay at a very reasonable price.
As the saying goes "The proof of the pudding is in the eating" and we would have no hesitation in recommending anybody to have a huge portion of this!

“Such fantastic welcoming place in Callander”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

Beautiful place, amazing service (5 out of 5 seems inadequate to describe the warm, attentive welcome) Simply, if you want to stay in a beautiful room, in lovely gardens in the lovely scenery of the Trossachs, and have a fantastic delicious breakfast from extermely considerate and attentive hosts; stay here!
BTW I find a previous respondents comment 'we got shafted' very baffling and totally incongruous with the fantastic care and attention we received, it sounds more like a technical issue?

“One of the best bed and breakfasts ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2009

We stayed for two nights in the Arden House and this was absolutely fabulous. After a long ride from Skye, we were welcomed by our host, who offered us tea in the living room with various cookies and cakes, which was a very pleasant welcome indeed.

We stayed in one of the smaller rooms, which was still substantial in size with all the details thought of (fresh water in crystal carafe, etc.). The breakfast was excellent in that after eating Scottish breakfasts for a week, this was the first one that actually tasted healthy. Every day they also serve a dish of the day. The breakfast is really something to take time for.

While the Arden House is beautifully located (though not too easy to find), Calander itself is not too interesting and rather dead at night. We had a hard time to find a pub, although there is one good restaurant. However, if you have a car, the Trossachs are very close, as is Stirling (and Edinburgh and Glasgow).
