It was a very pleasant stay here at Bodmin. The owners - especially John made us a warm welcome, with tea at the pool.
The house is again a totally other experience than the houses we've had before. John gave us much hints for the surroundings. I cannot mind a single negative issue.
Also the drive up to the house - which is very narrow is absolutly no problem with the excellent guidance of John.
The room we've had has a separate - and private bathroom - which is just opposite to the room. We've got used to it quickly. Remember the house is nearly 600 years old!
For dinner we can recommend the pub nearby the house.

Well "experttravelleruk1", you're hangover must be rated as an A++++++++++ one, cause you're comment is totally unfair and not true..and you know it!!!
If you had asked Sheila and/or John what you said you had asked, well checkout could have been after 11.00 am I'm 100% sure of it.
Gate House is one of these Hidden Gems and if you're not satisfied with the warm welcome, the personal touch, the tranquillity,the time you get to unwind well,you will never be satisfied anywhere.I can highly recommend this B&B, for who can appreciate all the superlatives I mentioned. You can find us there next spring!!!!!!!!!

We stayed at the gatehouse for part of our honeymoon and our experience was excellent! Our room was perfect the owners were awesome and when we arrived at our room there was a small note to congratulate us on our marriage. I would definately stay here again. I would also recommend the gatehouse to everyone that asks where to stay in north bovey!!!

This property only has three rooms so you receive very personal service. A very warm welcome was received, the room was great, breakfast hot and served at 8.30am precisely. However, our stay was spoiled on the morning of check out by a knock on the door at 10.55am (check out is 11am) by the wife asking us if she could service the room!!!

This call and her subsequent reaction when I said we would be ready in 15 minutes has left us with a very bad opinion of the owners. We were at a wedding the previous night and had asked the (male) owner if we could check out slightly later than 11am. He had said it wouldn't be a problem but had obviously had not communicated this to his wife.

One of the other guests is a very successful Inn Keeper in New England who also experienced the "service call", which left him completely unimpressed.

We won't be staying again as a result.
