“Shockingly good for such a Low Price.”

People are complaining that there are no staff, and that you have to enter a code to get in but these people seem like they panic if nobody is there to welcome them! I think MJB have a clever idea. You pay for your room on the internet and they text or email you a pin code for the front door and your room. I think this is a very good idea. I think there is at least 1 member of staff on site needed in case something goes wrong but other then that it was a great stay.

The room was clean and was really good quality considering it cost £20 for 1 night! The room was tidy and nicely decorated. The bed was comfy, the TV was a smart flat screen with a DVD player the heating worked and our room was nice and room.

The woman that I spoke to on the phone was polite and helpful. And there are telephone numbers you can phone in case you run into a problem. It is a hotel but since when does a hotel have to have food or a bar. For such a cheap price people expect the same services you get for £50-100! They need to use their common sense and realise the price is the same price as a hostel! But of a Hotel quality. You get your own bathroom, a bed, TV etc so what is the problem?

So if you want a cheap room, but you have to look after yourself rather then rely on staff, then this is a ideal place for you. Its in the town near plenty of places to get food from. Just make sure you look at the signs and instructions otherwise, like some people, you will try and go into the wrong door and find yourself not being able to get into the hotel. So pay ATTENTION!

“Awful - a disgrace to the hotel industry!”

My wife and I booked for 2 nights over New Year 2011/2 as we were celebrating nearby. We wish we hadn't. We stood out in the rain with our luggage while we tried to enter using the pin code we had been given by the booking agency. We then phoned the "helpline" number posted on the wall by the door and were greeted in an off-hand-way by a bored lady who told my wife she hadn't paid (we had via the agency). When she gave her credit card details over the phone the pin nnumber was given in return but it didnt work. By then others were on the steps trying to get in too. We called the helpline again to be greeted by the same bored person who suggested we were idiots for being at the wrong entrance. As it happens she was right, we were not at the back door(!), but one assumes when checking in at a hotel that you will be greeted at the main entrance. We got to our room which admitedly didn't smell of vomit and the bed had been changed since the last occupant (unlike a hotel in Lymmington I could mention), but the rest was dreadful. We were tired when we went to sleep but the noises from other rooms was loud and kept us awake, the bed was uncomfortable and the shower only dribbled. In fact when using it the next morning the power failed and the water stopped completely. There I was in darkness with soap all over me and my wife had to go to find a fuse board. But it wasn't to be found and instead she had to fill the bucket from the rubbish bin with water from the sink and throw it over me. Once I was dry I went out to find someone who could turn the power back on but there was no one around who worked at the hotel. I met other customers who were also without power. So I called the helpline again and was told in an off-hand way that there was a cleaner on the premises who would go and reset the power. 3 hours later the power was not on and I went to find the cleaner. As it was late morning by now there were cleaners around and one called the office when I complained about the time taken to restore the power on and the indication was that this was the first the cleaners had heard about the problem. Anyway the cleaner did manage to reset the trip and power returned. But this place has the cheek to call itself a hotel. This is a massive misdescription - it is no more than a set of holiday apartments. There is no one on site to speak to out of hours and access is controlled by locks where you need to enter a pin number. There are no facilities, bar, restaurant or breakfast room. For just under £40/night I consider myself well and truly ripped off and I will never stay there again.

Room Tip: Good luck!

“You pay peanuts........”

This place is a nightmare! The organisation is beyond belief! A snooty "manager" who couldn't deal with my complaint but also wouldn't let me speak to the owner, Tony. Apparently "Tony does not speak to the customers". Another girl with a nice little attitude on her (well done to your parents!). I thought this place was a Hotel. Boy, was I wrong! It felt like you were walking into a Ghost House; No staff, no one AT ALL. All you get is a pin code to get you in, nobody to welcome you and that's if you find the right place- it seems they "forgot" to tell another guest who arrived as we did and couldn't get in. They called MJB and were told they were in an apartment elsewhere! No food. No bar. Sorry, did you say you were a Hotel? I'd say that's false advertisement right there! In a nut shell; If you don't mind dirty rooms, cobwebs, pubic hairs in your bed sheets, lots of noise from other rooms/banging of doors, no heating, a crappy shower then this is the place for you. You honestly can't make this kinda comedy up, Faulty towers, eat your heart out!

“Soooo cheap, but clean, comfortable and functional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Stayed here for 2 nights - £10 for the Friday and £29 for the Saturday. The room was clean and warm. Furniture was a mixture of old and new but was very clean. For £39 for 2 nights you can't really complain about anything. My husband and I had room 15, ground floor in the cottage annex, only complaint was it was opposite the hairdressers so a little noise.

Room Tip: for a cheap stay, you can't beat it - upstairs rooms probably less noisy
