We arrived on a bank holiday Friday night and were checked in by very friendly and efficient staff. We had dinner in the bar that night which was very nice, again with great service. A good selection of wines by the glass and a couple of real ales to chose from. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and again served by friendly staff. One of our party asked if there were any yoghurts but there were not. When we left the dining room the waitress said she would pop out and get some later that day so we could have them the following morning. Breakfast the second morning was again fine but the one member of staff seemed a bit rushed off her feet.
It was therefore a shame that the room left a few things to be desired. On first appearance, it was clean and well appointed, if a little on the small side. The bed however was a small double which took some getting used to, the room was very warm and there was quite a lot of noise from the street at times through the night. As other reviews have mentioned, there is a nightclub nearby but this is no fault of the hotel.
There was also only one cup provided for the room's tea & coffee and the shower head was not fixed to the wall so you had to hold it above your head.
That said, our friends said there rooms were more spacious and comfortable so I think we had maybe got the short straw.
All in all, a nice hotel with great, friendly staff

Stayed here mid July and can't fault the service and food was amazing. Hotel manager Elaine made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed whole experience

What can i say? the Hotel is very friendly Elaine and Graham run the best Hotel in Dereham.
Food is excellent, Rooms are very comfortable on suite, The staff are very friendly and are all too willing to help or advise during your stay.

The Hotel is genuinely 1 minute walk from the shops, and ideally situated for the A47 and the 3 superstores in Dereham.

I would highly reccommend this Hotel to anyone who is considering visiting Dereham anytime of the year. You will be looked after and definitely re-visit.

We chose this hotel as it was iddeally located in Dereham. We had cycled from home in Wymondham, 15 miles away and we were ready for a little rest and recuperation!. We arrived at this town pub/hotel having been past it several times. The reception we got when we arrived was excellent. The lady at reception went to great lengths to find somewhere we could safely store our bikes for the night. Having done this we were shown to our room. On first sight it appeared to be a bit on the basic side, but once we were settled in and found the wonderful shower/bathroom and the comfortable bed, we were more than happy. So far so good. We opted to dine in the restaurant and we had an absolutely first class meal. The menu choice was excellent, the friendly (nothing too much trouble), efficient service was second to none. The restaurant had a pleasant ambience to make the whole dining experience most pleasant. It is a pity we were able to stay only one night. However we will definitely come back. Well done to the Kings Head, Dereham!
