I and 13 female friends have just spent a Reunion weekend at the Fowey Hotel, staying in seaview rooms with lovely views over the Fowey Estuary and out to sea. We could not fault the Hotel in any way. The rooms are very comfortable with very good tea and coffee making facilities (in how many hotels do you get a cafetiere with real coffee, and a teapot, rather than having to make your hot drink direct in the cup?), all the usual bathroom goodies, and plenty of cupboard and drawer space for clothing etc. Our Group Booking was handled very helpfully and capably by Samantha, and the prearranged Private Dinner for 14 in the Piano Room was delicious, as were the breakfasts - all freshly cooked, with a wide choice on the menu (including Porridge with whisky, poached haddock and kippers, plus all the usual egg & bacon etc options) and a good cold buffet table. The lunchtime Snack & sandwich menu was also very good.
Fowey is an attractive town to wander around, although the access to the town and back is quite steep (hence the good views from the hotel!). Can recommend Sam's Bistro for excellent seafood - also Sam's on the Beach or the Rashleigh Inn at Polkerris - a pretty cove a few miles away towards St Austell for good food at luinchtime or in the evening, if you can tear yourself away from the Hotel itself.
All in all, a great base for exploring some of South Cornwall or to spend a few relaxing days in
comfort with friendly and welcoming hospitality.
