“Great weekend”

We stayed at Graythwaite on the Groupon deal and had a great time. Check is was quick easy and efficient, and we were shown around the hotel and to our room and made to feel very welcome by Stephen.

The hotel is cosy and comfortable, the rooms downstairs are lovely especially with the log fires.

We stayed in room 3 with great views over the gardens and out to sea. The room was clean, bed was huge so no fighting for space!

We ate at the hotel on the first night and the food was really good, well cooked and presented,. Breakfast the next day was equally good and a great start to the day. Afternoon tea was part of the deal and was served in the dowstairs room with the log fire which was most welocme after a cold day.

All the staff are really helpful and care about what they do and go that extra mile. Speicial word for Nicky who was most helpful.

All in all a really good experience and we wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thanks for the drinks room 12!

People need to remember it's an old hotel if you want modern go into a city

Room Tip: If you can get a room looking over the sea and gardens it's a bonus

“A let down!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Attended our friends wedding and cost£140.00 per night (two) but not worth half of that.
The staff were rude on arrival, our room wasnt ready and we had booked early arrival. Bathroom was awful....saniflow toilet which sounded like a train when flushed. Paintwork chipped, carpets soiled. Furniture and decore were dated, bed was the most uncomfortable, springs were sticking in our backs!!! Avoid room 4
Fell like we have been ripped off!!!!

Room Tip: Just dont book

“Lots of character - we loved it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

Just returned from a two night "Groupon" deal. Worth every penny. The hotel is a beautiful quirky old country house with loads of charm and character. We loved everything about it. Our room was large and comfy with lovely views over the gardens to the sea. The bed was huge and comfy and yes the bathroom did need updating but everything was clean and everything worked. The hotel staff were all local and were helpful, friendlly and genuinely seemed to care about their guests. The two lounges and bar area were lovely, warm and cosy with a TV in one and lots of board games if you wanted them. Breakfast was really good and tasty with plenty of choice - fruit, cereals, porridge and pastries and full English breakfast with a good veggie option too. We ate in the restaurant one evening (£21.95 for 2 courses) - good food nicely served- I had red partridge, my husband had rabbit wrapped in bacon. It was about a 10 minute walk into Grange - longer coming back as there is a quite steep hill. Excellent value for what we paid and to the people who moan about things being dated - don't stay in an old house stay in a travel lodge!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view
