We booked The Red House about a week before we were due to stay. A couple of days before we were due to arrive we had a call from The Red House to enquire whether we were content with a private bathroom in which case they still had a room in the main B&B but if we wanted an ensuite room then they would need us to stay in The Albany, another B&B building they owned about two minutes walk away. We often for the Albany - sometimes referred on here as the annex. The room was fine - we were on the first floor. The carpet and furnishings were clean and there was a well stocked tea tray and tea making facilities. The only minor criticisms to the room were that - the clothes rail was quite high in the wardrobe and so I needed to get my 'tall' partner to hang up my clothes. Also the bathroom was quite small, but it was still perfectly useable. Guests staying in the Albany need to go to The Red House - a converted Georgain house for breakfast. The entrance to the Red House is lovely - with a period tiled floor and a nicely decorated breakfast room in a soft shade of almond green. The furnishings were rustic and it felt just as a breakfast room should feel on a break in the country. The owner's sister was looking after the establishment whilst we were there. On the first day she took the breakfast order the night before, but in reality we could say what we wanted in the morning. The breakfast was cooked very well, and the bacon was particularly good as it was bought from a local butcher shop. The hotel was about a 15 minute walk to the main town and a similar time again to walk to the railway station - though with heavy baggage - we would definetely suggest taking a taxi. All in all we were very happy with our stay and would certainly book there again as it was very good value and nice with it.
