The Orangery restaurant is 100% better than under previous owners but just a few niggles. The decor attractive and extremely clean but perhaps background music and softer lighting would help the atmosphere...a bit stark. Cheap paper napkins seem out of place. Service was a little slow but staff very pleasant.

The food was good but perhaps a tad overpriced..a set price menu would certainly help persuade me to return...the £ 4.95 carvery looked good value for money but a £10 2-course type of offer would certainly attract new customers.

Definitely worth a visit despite the 'niggles' and I will return.

Warm friendly welcome from the hosts on our visit to the hotel for our Christmas Day lunch. Excellent food, fantastic service and the staff went out of their way to ensure our Christmas celebration went well. Good to see so many people in the restaurant enjoying themselves. Great atmosphere. Thank you to everyone.

I went to the Kings hotel on Christmas day for drinks and had a lovely time. The staff were ever so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel has a laid back, relaxed feel to it. It's a traditional, cosey place to stay and is in an ideal location for town. Everyone seemed really happy to be there and the bar area was full of christmas cheer!
I would reccommend this hotel to anyone who wants a change from the mundane chain hotels. The kings hotel has character which is priceless and at an affordable price.

Have just had christmas dinner at the hotel and it was excellent!! Would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the hotel and I will be back next year.
