“Spacious holiday home in an excellent location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

13 of us stayed here over new year and had a fab time. The owners are friendly and very helpful and close by. There was lots of communal areas for games and relaxing.
The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need to prepare and serve a large meal.
We slept in the double room right at the top of the house which was cold but there were plenty blankets. All the other rooms were cosy and all had nice bathrooms and televisions!
Excellent place to stay to access all the visitor attractions in the surrounding area and we would highly recommend the Hogmany street party for a traditional Scottish experience.
Thank you Jay and Lucy for sharing your fab house!

Thank you to our New Year guests for their great review. We're really pleased you had a lovely time in Grantown and that the house was so well suited to your groups needs. We were surprised to learn that one of the bedrooms was cold, as we have a brand new, very efficient boiler in the house. We've since bled all the radiators and subsequent visitors have told us that the upstairs rooms were just as cosy as the rest of the house. Thanks for letting us know, so we could rectify this issue. Hope to welcome you to The Pines House again soon.

“A Truely Wonderful House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

I have just spent a long weekend with my family at this fantastic house. It is the 5th time we have rented a big house and this is the best we have been to. The description and photos on the web site are very accurate, IT IS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS AND SOUNDS.The house is exceptionally comfortable, cosy and homely, and very well maintained to a high standard both inside and out.The kitchen is very well stocked with more than enough crockery and pans, it had every item we needed, and it was ideal having the open plan family room adjacent to the kitchen. The extra sitting rooms allow for quiet and noisy areas so everyone can be happy. The only negative point I would make is that the dinning room is a little tight for 20 people, but there is seating in the kitchen and for our group it worked fine. The house is in a lovely setting, the garden is large with lots of outdoor toys, allowing youngsters to have loads of fun. The owners are very helpful and thoughtful providing lots of little extras, such as complementary bottle of wine, toiletries in the bathrooms, excellent book and music collection which give it an added personal touch and makes the whole experiance extra special.

Thank you Maureen for the kind words and great review, it's really good to know that people do notice the extra effort we go to to try and make it more homely. I wanted to respond to your point about the dining room being a little tight for 20 (and you are quite right - it is a little tight), we have also had twenty people round the table and whilst it is possible, it's an exercise in elbow control! With that in mind I have come up with a solution: moving the piano into the sitting room gives enough space to extend the table to make it more comfortable for 20 people to sit around. I also think the sitting room is a better place for the piano, so everything should work out nicely!

“Now a Luxury Self Catering House!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

What a fabulous place to stay! We had a great week - first half with our family, and second half with our NCT Gang - 38 folk from age 6 months to 92 over the course of our hols!! and never once did The Pines feel full! Highly recommend to all. Thanks to the owners of The Pines House - it is a truly superb luxury self catering let. We've stayed in many large holiday homes over the year's and we all agreed this one is by far our favourite. www.thepineshouse.com

“Very good hospitality and really excellent food, all at a price.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

We two couples stayed with Michael and Gwen Stewart for two nights. The Pines is an old fashioned carpetted, decorated, and furnished place with a sumptuous ambiance. They have tried to keep it like a Scottish hunting lodge, but it seemed a bit dark and not well it.
Nice lounges, with a big screen and Sky TV downstairs, and a stately home type of lounge full of terrific paintings upstairs. Pre dinner drinks served downstairs and after dinner coffees served upstairs. The whole place is full of really good art and artifacts. Our room was comfortable and pleasant enough, good shower over the bath. Gwen does the cooking and she is an outstanding cook. Really excellent, imaginative food. A daily changing single menu. Very excellent breakfasts with real fresh orange juice, home made bread and toast ,and overnight cooked porridge, all the very best. Care is taken, we discovered, to source the food ingredients: they go some distance to get supplies that are the best. Micheal was very attentive, chatty, and friendly. There is a nice large garden from where you can walk off into the woods or down to the river about 250 yards away. Very expensive at about £200 a room a night Dinner, B&B, but with a super host in Michael; we did not see Gwen other than at arriving and departing but she must have been a very busy lady as they do not have any other staff now.

“A truly great breakfast!”

Booked a twin and two singles on a B/B basis, for one night, as we were dining at the Glass House (a great restaurant).
Well received by Michael, and shown our rooms.
Good quality bed linen and pillows
Quiet and safe location, but within easy walking distance of the town centre.
The breakfast is excellent (The Swiss, American and English fellow guests all thought the same)
Probably one of the best places to stay in Grantown, which is well placed for Speyside
