“Warm Highland Welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2011

We stayed at the Seafield Lodge for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is very close to the town centre - just behind the main street - and provides an ideal location for visiting the north east of Scotland and Inverness. We received a warm welcome from the owner/manager who tried to give us an up-grade. Our bedroom was, however, more than adequate with tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV, large wardrobes, etc. The bathroom was slightly dated but perfectly functional. Would agree with a previous comment re the softness of the bed.

A full Scottish breakfast is offered (as well as kippers) plus fruit juice and a limited selection of fruit. Whilst the plates were hot the food on the first day was just warm - would also suggest that an attempt is made to reduce the amount of cooking fat/oil used.

Overall the hotel is well located, clean and provides good value for money.

“Friendly people but disappointing food & terrible bed”

A very friendly welcome but after that all went downhill. The bed was too soft to sleep in without suffering a very bad back. Waterpipes rattled and squeaked. I was very disappointed with the evening meals I ordered (steak pie which was inedible, was offered with chips OR vegetables) although my husband's choices were better. We won't be back at the Seafield Lodge!

Good value. Well located for our purposes which was to travel about the highlands of Scotland. We took four day trips from Grantown. Nice local golf course which I played for about $40 US.

STAFF DELIGHTFUL, FOOD GREAT, SERVICE FINE.

Plenty of off street parking.
There is no lift.

“very friendly staff, comfortable, value for money, ideally located for daily trips and walks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

We are a family with a 2 yo daughter from Sweden and we have stayed at Seafield for 6 nights in the beginning of August. The hosts were from the beginning very helpful and generous, and upgraded our room, seeing we need more space with our toddler. The hotel is quiet and still ideally located both in the town and in Highlands. We drove every day in different direction in the area, covering from Cairngorm rezervation and Mallaig to Stirling and Inverness/ Black Island. The area is fantastically beautiful. We used the hotel's restaurant several times in the evening, and we were very happy with the food. The hotel has a homey atmosphere and the staff did the best to accommodate our needs. Value for money - we would stay there again if back!
