Stayed here in September as part of a group of tourists and found that it was awful, as did the majority of other group members. Rooms were cleanish (okay as long as you don't look under tables, behind furniture etc. Sraff were mostly schoolchildren. Food mediocre and mostly cold. Bar opened just about 1 hour before dinner and during the day the place was like the Marie Celeste - not a member of staff in sight. Room keys were left lying on the reception desk during the day (out security) and cleaners sometimes left rooms open with clients valuables inside!!! Fire exit doors were found to be locked! No means of escape should a fire have occurred during the night. Milk cartons left in bedrooms had a sell by date 20 years out of date. This place is a disgrace. It is not a hotel and as a guest house falls short of the most basic requirements.

We (two senior ladies and a younger couple) stayed one night at the Coppice in mid-September. The hotel is old and a little threadbare but our rooms were very comfortable. We had twin beds and our friends' room had a double. The beds were very comfortable, we had all the usual amenities (soap, shampoo, hair dryer, towel warmer, coffee/tea/snacks). The sink was outside of the bathroom, always a plus when two ladies are sharing a room!

The standard, huge Scottish breakfast was included in our rate, 27.50£ (approx $51.88) pp and the hotel personnel were friendly.

We were surprised that our rooms were as comfortable as they were and would have no problem staying here again.
