My husband and I spent Christmas at The Kensington Hotel,the staff was really nice and friendly,a special thanks to Hannah and Alan.The Christmas dinner was lovely,with 7 courses,well worth the money.The entertainment in the evening was very good, with a very talented Lez Emery.The location was was right on the sea front.The advert states many rooms have a sea view,unfortunately we did not have one of these rooms.I think the rooms could have been a lot better,the bathroom door did not shut,the door was bigger then the frame,we did have trouble closing the front door as well.The shower was not very powerful.I found the beds a bit hard,also the pillows.The corridors were really narrow.On the whole,the downstairs was very nice,just the upstairs needs brightening up.

The hotel is right on the sea front overlooking the waterways, and only a short walk into the town.
The staff at the Kensington are all very professional and welcoming, they really cant do enough for you. We even had tea and cake on arrival which we have never had before in any hotel, a very welcome gesture.
The room we stayed in was beautifully decorated, clean, and a lovely spacious bathroom with plenty of towels and toiletries.
I have saved the best until last, the food. This was exceptional, the 3 course evening meal was the one of the best we have ever had, and plenty of it too.
The breakfast was also very good, a full english with fresh coffee and plenty of toast, our cups were topped up without having to ask.
I would deffinatley stay here again, and would recommend to anyone that is visiting Great Yarmouth.

Well done the Kensington.

Clean room and very cosy. Food 1st class. Staff could not have been more helpful. Very near Yarmouth races.

Having read previous reviews I expected more - sadly, I believe, some reviews have been over-generous.

Positive - all staff we encountered were courteous and tried to do their best for you. It has a fair location overlooking the Waterways on the North Parade. As advertised I was fortunate enough to have a room with free acess to Wifi.

Negative - Corridors/passageways/staircase and bedroom door were all very narrow. Possibly my own fault but I had thought that I had booked a shower over bath but ended up with a shower only. The shower was extremely poor - virtually no pressure and minimal flow. Extractor fan remained unserviceable despite reporting it and the overflow for the shower basin remained blocked with musty water from previous occupants.
Carpet has seen better decades - although it was hoovered it looked as though it had been given a brush over by silt - discovered this was due to the pile having worn of the end of the carpet threads giving it a brown tinge. The carpet was probably red. The complimentary kettle would not fit into the small hand wash basin. The floor was very creaky and the room suffered greatly from adjacent room and corridor noise. The old and small television had a remote control that had some peculiar functional features but this provided some fun in its use.
Food at times could be on the cold side.
I do not know the difference between B&B and a hotel but I believe with best intentions the Kensington is a large B&B.
Would I stay here again - only if the prices were vastly reduced or it had a make over as it claims to have done.
