Decided to take a last minute break over the Bank Holiday weekend and had difficulty in finding a hotel with twin rooms. Due to our wanting to get away we reluctantly decided to accept the last two single rooms at The Hamilton. Upon our arrival we were put at ease with the welcome we received and was pleasantly surprised when we were shown to our single rooms (from the previous reviews we had seen, we were expecting broom cupboards). The en-suite rooms had plenty of space to move around in and the shower facilities were fine, plus, the view from the windows were great. The Hotel is in an ideal location opposite the "Waterway Gardens" and away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Yes!, the hotel is in need of some refurbishment but this is in process and does take time, but is very clean and comfortable. The owners and the staff made you feel at ease and were always ready to give help if needed. The "Waterway Gardens" directly opposite the hotel are ideal for anyone wanting to stroll and sit quietly and relax, plus there is a great cafe/restaurant (The Waterways Cafe) where you can have a variety of good quality meals. (well worth a visit). All in all, my wife and I enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Hamilton to any of our family. Price wise, all in all, we have paid more at other hotels for less, so we have no complaints. When the refurbishment(s) have been completed the owners would be quite justified in increasing their tariffs.
Room Tip: Single rooms 21 & 22 are very good with great views
