“two night 1st to the 3rd December”

The room was fine, bathroom slightly small but clean. The view from the window was lovely waking up to the sun rise. The bed was comfy and the room was well heated. Breakfast was below average, the fist day the tomato was mouldy and anyone could see it had, had something living inside it. The bacon tasteless. On the second day baked beans look like they where from the day before. Good coffee and toast. Fair variety of choice for breakfast.

If you are going to stay it is worth knowing that they hold functions, which go on to the small hours of the morning. Unfortunetly following the function whilst we were staying a fight broke out and kept us awake till 3 am, and again later at 4am. It is worth noting the sea view rooms are situated at the front of the hotel which is also where the smoking area is.

The location superb, literally over the road from the sea, 10 minute walk into the town and market and 15 minute walk down the road from all the attractions.

Interestingly on departure no-one asked how our stay had been and there is no opportunity at the hotel to leave feedback.

“Two nights in Great Yarmouth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

My Wife Allyson and I had decided to have a couple of days break on the east coast. We booked ourselves and our dog Meg into the Furzedown Hotel.
Best choice! The Hotel is a family run establishment and they really make you feel welcome.
Room - Excellent for us and our dog.
Staff - I am an ex Army Officer so being called Sir is no problem. However, in the Furzedown, they meant it.
Food - Breakfast was a dream. There were young girls serving us as well as the bosses. All were very professional. They acted as if they had been trained in silver service in an Officers Mess. Well Done!
Last comments.
I like my beer. The quality of that Hotels' "San Miguel" draught is wonderful and I was served anytime I wanted.
One of the bosses has been Mayor so he knows about Ceremony. All you ex Army lads out there get down to the Furzedown because it feels like staying in the "Mess" again.
WELL DONE FURZEDOWN!

Fantastic five day break in a suoerb hotel where the proprietor and his staff were extremely kind and helpful. The room and food were just perfect and to have a seaview room was an added delight. Its classed as three star but our treatment was more like five star and we will delinitely be going again in the Spring. Rhis was oiur first visit to Great Yarmouth and we were amazed how lovely and flat the roads are and friendly free for the disabled.

Room Tip: Always ask for a seaview room

“Friendly but I don't know how it got 3 stars”

Booked last minute for break by the sea with our 4 year old, based largely on it's tripadvisor No1 in Yarmouth rating. Stairways and room felt very dated although fairly clean. Our room was a double with a bunk bed. Think we should have been told it was a bunk bed although my son did love sleeping up the top. Bathroom all painted woodchip and very poor electric shower. Our double bed was the smallest I have ever come across. I ended up sleeping in the bottom of the bunk bed which I admit was comfortable but not really what I was planning. Car park was scarily tight, I notice they were advertising parking sensors in reception, I think they should give them out free. Breakfast was good as was the service. Overall they try hard but need modernising and charging £114 in October albeit including breakfast was just ridiculous. Reasonable price would have been no more than £90.
