We booked this hotel as we were attending Latitude Festival for the weekend and wanted a backup plan if the weather or venue was too grim. The weather turned out to be very grim so we spent Friday & Sunday night at the hotel and went glamping in Suffolk on the Saturday. I often see people start reviews by reinforcing their credentials with remarks such as 'We have stayed at luxury hotels all over the world' etc etc however I will say that we are 5 star luxury snobs. The main cause of this snobbery is the simple premise that you generally receive a higher standard of cleanliness, food & service at a top end hotel.
There are no 5 stars in Norfolk or Suffolk (I checked) so the best that I could find was The Imperial with many good reviews on this site. We both took to this place as you cannot fault its cleanliness & cosy persona. Ok The Savoy it is not but the restaurant downstairs was sublime & it is clear that this family run hotel does actually care about you. Our room was immaculate as was the service and the food. In addition it is dog, child & family friendly. Unfortunately we did not have time to explore the town but If you need or want to stay in this area you will not find a better hotel than this. PS: You can tell that that they are proud to be the only 4 star in the town & I can understand why. I have stayed at many a so called 5 star that would be put to shame by The imperial. To top it off our bill was about £150 per night including top notch breakfast so happy days (and nights) !!
Room Tip: Request sea facing but they do not let kids in their best rooms I notice :(
