“What a mistake..”

Before i start i just want to say that we were not expecting anything fancy for just £36 pound a night for 2 of us, but there is a huge difference between old and tatty and unclean and unsafe!
On arrival we were greeted by a young girl who barely spoke a word, and shown to our room...trapsing up the 2 flights of creaky steep stairs with hand rails that are sharp edged and loose we were taken to room 15, the Anniversary room. First glance fine, a little old and shabby but ok. But on closer inspection we were appaled by what was offered, the shower was tiny with an odd wooden board placed at the bottom of it which didnt feel safe at all and the water was cold, generating the odd spurt of luke warm water every so often.
I attempted to use the hair dryer but following the wire it wasnt even wired in, the inside wires were hanging out of it! And the towel we were given had what looked like dried on paint bits all over it?! so we had to share one bath towel between us.
The bed was built the wrong way round and as hard as nails, with mismatch pillows.
Our sink was loose from the wall, and the taps didnt have the hot or cold signs on them, making it impossible to tell which was which. There was what looked like make up splattered up the walls and mirror and an inch thick layer of dust on top of everywhere.
It is obvious that they have ATTEMPTED with the decor of the place, but nothing matches and the paint job is just awful.
We also found a razor blade on top of the radiator cover...so i am doubtful that cleaning happeneds between each visit.
During our one night there we were woken by a fight breaking out in the house, with people screaming and swearing and physically fighting...this went on for a good 2 hours, and nothing was said or done so needless to say we were shattered the next morning.
The replies to these reviews by the staff seem to all have the same answer 'if you had come and told us we would have sorted it' well we did! we stood downstairs in the cold corridor for 20 minutes ringing the bell to get someones attention to voice our issues, and guess what? no one came! just like they would of not said goodbye unless we had made a point of saying we were leaving!
We will defo not be returning, and would rather pay an extra little bit of money and get a travelodge. Atleast we will then no we were safe and not going to come away with some sort of illness!

“Great value, friendly owner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

On our first night in the UK we stayed at Fawlty Towers in Great Yarmouth. Our kids love the TV show and it just seemed like a quirky and fun way to start our tour of Great Britain. We stayed in the family room on the ground floor (Basil the Rat room as I recall). It was fine for the five of us - plenty big with a couch and sitting area as well as a bunk bed, a double bed, and a single bed. The bathroom was pretty small and not enough hot water was an issue in the morning. The owner served up a great breakfast in the morning with lots of friendly banter. It's not a luxury hotel - it's a good, basic B&B place a block from the beach with parking on the street. We are glad we spent the first night of our trip at Fawlty Towers!

Room Tip: Family room on ground floor is large.

We spent 2 nights here in August. What a mistake. Never again. Rooms grubby. Staff grubby.
£58 per night ..... expected better, a lot better. Double bed! Only just. Shower room did'nt even have a shelf for a toothbrush. Could go on but won't. You get the picture.

“Filthy and awful (pig sty)”

This was probably the worst place that I have stayed at ever. The room was so dusty that my daughter's eye's were stinging and I had an allergic reaction. I could feel the dirt on the sheets, and wish I had slept in the car instead. The carpets were filthy and we ate our breakfast on a pool table! The owner was really dirty, like the place, and I just wanted to get out of there! Never again. Don't bother....close to the beach, but noisy nightlife and a cest pit!

Room Tip: Rather look at the 4 star hotel next door
