This is my second visit in 6 months. This is an excellant B&B and everything in previous views is correct. The rooms are fabulous and all amenities are there including a fridge. Keith and Karen are great people and nothing is too much for them.

Will be back on future visits.

I stayed here in December 2011 whilst in Shetland for work for 5 days!

Karen and Keith are so welcoming and will do anything they can to make your stay amazing! My room was upstairs bed was comfy, and room was spacious!

The food was amazing and it was really good that they offered DVDs and books to read!

We got stuck in Shetland due to weather, Karen & Keith were great and we were able to stay another night!

I would definitely recommend this b&b and I would definitely stay again!

Alder Lodge is an friendly, extremely clean and modern guest house in the heart of Lerwick. I stayed in December for one week for work and could not fault the service that I received! Karen and Keith were excellent hosts that were accommodating to our needs and helpful when our ferries were cancelled due to the wind! Everything we asked for was available and the guest house had amenities that go over and above the call of any other guest house I have stayed in- a large bookcase full of novels for guests to read and a collection of DVDs that guests are able to borrow. The day that our ferry was cancelled we had access to a day room and breakfast everyday was AWESOME!

A friendly comfortable guest house for business or tourist!

The Alder Lodge is a wonderful property, managed by really warm and hospitable hosts. I stayed there for three nights in mid-November, and enjoyed the experience. The rooms appear to have been recently refurbished, so they are well-appointed and clean, with flat screen tv/dvd and well-stocked tea/coffee making supplies. The only criticism I'd make is that the window of the room I was in was quite close to a street light, so it might benefit from thicker curtains.

Breakfast was cooked to order and generously portioned, and I was always asked whether I wanted more. Generally, I wouldn't be up before 9am while on holiday, but the food tasted good enough to be an adequate compensation for the hour at which it was served...

I usually stay in hotels when I travel, so I'm not an authority on what to expect from the people that run guest houses - what I can say though is that I found the owners incredibly welcoming, and that they couldn't have been more helpful with travel advice and recommendations for restaurants and the like. They were generous with their time when I wanted assistance, and happy to leave me to my own devices when I wanted to work in my room - really lovely people who improved the quality of my stay no end.
