A wonderful stay! Jane and Alistair went above and beyond all expectations as hosts. Jane went as far as following up with the airlines on our lost luggage. The breakfasts were not only delicious but all guests were welcomed as if Jane and Alistair were hosting family members. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, all needs were met. Michelle who cleaned our rooms was as friendly as Jane and Alistair, enjoyed talking to her! Any "tourist" questions we had were answered and recommendations were readily available. The night before we left for an early am flight Jane and Alistair came to our room with a breakfast to have in our room and a warm farewell. I felt like I was saying goodbye to family. I would not think of staying anywhere else on a return visit to Orkney.

We recently stayed here as part of a short holiday in Scotland. Jane our host emailed in advance to make sure everything we needed was in place, which was a lovely touch. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. The large room and bathroom was very family friendly too. Breakfast was second to none. A great place to stay, wish we could have stayed longer!

What great hosts and accommodations. We came in on the Ferry from Lerwick...late at night and couldn't get a rental car until the next morning. No problem, Jane arranged a cab for us and Alastair was up to greet us and get us into a great room. We filled out our breakfast menu selections nightly and we were wrapped in comfort and hospitality for the next five days. After a day of seeing the rocks and waves we were treated to small delights such as the cookies in the room w/ our tea. The internet was secure and fast. Everything worked..well. I can't add much to the previous reviews. These folks don't miss a beat and Avalon House is a great stop for visitors to Orkney.

Can only echo what has been written already. Fantastic B&B great location with fantastic views from the bedroom and dining room over breakfast. We stayed with two teenage boys and there was more than enough room in the family room with plenty of space to spare.

It's the small touches that make the big difference and the bath is wonderful after a day of cairn hunting. We will definitely be returning to see Jane and Alastair at Avalon House.
