Stayed here for 2 nights recently, the hotel was chosen for us but on the basis of the food first, and boutique hotel second. it didn't disappoint on either. I think you might begin to struggle with the menu if eating here for, say, more than 3 nights - but for 2/3 there was plenty of choice - and neither the quality nor service could be faulted.
Our slight niggle (and only reason for rating 4/5), was our room. The size and facilities were no problem and everything you'd expect. However, a bunch of noisy elderly guests were in the room next to us, and proceeded to make every possible noise imaginable (TV, conversation, shower) from 6.30 in the morning. Whether it was their volume, or the thickness of the walls we shall never know - but both mornings we were woken soon after they "started" and couldn't really get back to sleep. At times you could hear their conversation sufficiently clearly so as to join in should you fancy.
We did mention this to the owner when leaving, but apart from confirming our suspicions on which group of guests it was.. nothing could really be said apart from the usual apologies. But would we let this stop us from considering a repeat visit? No.
Room Tip: Ask for a room in the first corridor off reception - better view of Scapa Flow.
