“Yes it's basic, it's not at all plush but you feel safe and it's cheap!”

I had to write a review after reading some bad ones. I stayed here whilst on business last week as a solo pregnant female. The man on reception (presume the owner) made sure I had a room away from any noise of the bar, he carried my case to the top floor and I knew straight away I would feel safe here.
Yes, the rooms are basic, the decor is a bit old fashioned but it's cheap and you get what you pay for. The room was cosy and had secure locks, I felt safe here as a lone female traveller.
I would definatley come back. All those that moan about the basic feel of the hotel.. go and stay in a £100 a night hotel and stop being greedy!

“Kept awake all night - the revenge”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

My partner and I stayed on the bottom floor of the Beauchief recently and, apart from the dog barking incident, suffered the same fate as the reviewer who stayed there on 19th Jul 2006.

When we arrived youngsters were drinking outside the front and back entrances to the hotel and we were assured that this would die down by the time we got back from dinner. We were asked to pay upfront and now understand why this was. Upon our return at 11pm, people were spilling out of the hotel entrance and car park, fighting in the street with the police having to calm things down and when we crept into the back entrance, late night drinkers stood outside our window, shouting and at about 12am there was a mini-brawl, which the night porter was unfortunately pulled into, who called the police and finally put an end to the fiasco.

In the early morning the breakfast staff also came in the back way and disturbed us.
I should add that we had requested a change of room in a moment of bravery the night before but were simply offered a drink to ease things over. Alcohol - the cause of and solution to all our problems!

“Basic, Central and Clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2010

We had booked a couple of nights as it was close to an event we were attending. The staff were very friendly and they gave us a room at the top of the building in the quiet area of the hotel. The room was very clean but very basic. It struck me as one of those places that workmen stay at if they are away with work.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and was very very tasty.

We paid £25 per night each and thought it was good value for that price. Just be aware that you get what you pay for. If you want little luxuries this is not the place for you.

“Ok but not great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2009

This was a very unusual hotel experience,

i would be tempted to say "do not stay here" but when i think about it the staff were lovely, the room clean and the breakfast was fine.

If i was to return to Loughborough i don't think i would stay here again, i certainly wouldn't recommend it to my parents. If you're not too fussy and are just looking for a clean room to lay your head in, then this probably fits the bill.
