“What a disappointment!!”

What a disappointment this hotel was! The pictures on the wesbite looked great, the restaurant sounded charming, but when we arrived we quickly realised how misled we had been. The restaurant was closed - seemly permanently. There only appeared to be one member of staff, who made it clear that she had stayed late to let us in (we arrived around 7pm). The room was tatty in the extreme with worn carpet, a hole in the ceiling, cracks in the walls, a saggy bed with two flat pillows and a sweaty plastic undersheet. Our evening was also distrubed by noise from the room above which appeared to be the staff accomodation. The ensuite was the smallest I have ever seen with no window and no extractor, the shower was rusted and scaled up and only provided a dribble of water. Breakfast was only available between 7.30 and 8.30 and the single member of staff was unfriendly abrupt. All in all terribly disappointing - don't go there.

“Overpriced and Basic”

Seems to have a staff of one. No evening meals. Breakfast was limited. Room was large and bed was comfortable but shower was a dribble with little hot water. Wardrobe contained hooks but no hanging rail. On street parking only - limited duration during day. Very overpriced compared to some hotels in the Loughborough area.

“Did not live up to expectations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2007

I have been travelling to Loughborough for several years and have not found anywhere I would go back to. I read reviews on this hotel on tripadvisor and thought it sounded worth a try. It was a very strange experience!! One member of staff who did everything from greeting, reception, chambermaid, cook. No criticism - she tried her best. But where were the other staff? The first room had walls vibrating with music coming from a flat next door and we had to change. The 2nd room was not the same standard but we were still charged the higher room rate. We tried to get a drink but there was no stock in the bar. When we had breakfast we scaled down our request as we felt so sorry for the girl who would have had to cook full english and deal with the other guests as well. We will definitely not be going back!

“Great find.”

I booked this hotel in a hurry as I was drawn to the picture of it, which does not do it justice. The whole experience was wonderful, we were warmly welcomed, even telephoned to see if we were okay when traffic had held us up an hour past our expected arrival time. The young lady on reception was so helpful and took us up to the marvellous Beaumont room, the bridal suite as an upgrade as I indicated it was my husbands birthday and I was taking him to Prestwold Hall for a lamborghini drive. The room was warmly inviting and impressive with the claw foot bath in the bedroom, the door into the bathroom was so quaint and the ambience was just great. We were taken out into the street and shown the way to a restaurant we had chosen to eat at, even though it was raining and very cold. You dont get that personal treatment at most hotels. The morning breakfast was easily edible and served very professionally. All in all a marvellous hotel and I would recommend it to anyone, and we would definately stay there again. Thank you Old Manor Hotel!!!

“Bonus Luxury”

I had to stay in Loughborough , at the last minute I saw this hotel. They offered me a single room. I didn't get there till late and the kind lady upgraded me to the room you can see in the Picture with the bathtub in the room, Log fire etc (called the Beaumont Room). Absolutely bliss. The breakfast room and lounge area was quaint. Staff very caring and lovely without being intrusive at all. I had a good night and days’ sleep, fab breakfast. I would recommended it.
