I'd heard this was the best hotel in Lowestoft and from what I have seen of Lowestoft I would probably agree. The hotel itself is located in a quiet area away from the centre and overlooks the beach. I had a double room which was clean and spacious - I received room service on each of the 3 days of my stay. The floorboards creak a lot and the pigeons can be a little noisy on the windowsill but other than that I can't complain. The bar was well stocked and had a nice area for sitting in. My only complaint here is that later in the evening it was difficult to locate staff to serve me a drink - on one occasion I left and went to bed instead. Prices were reasonable and the bar food was good. The restaurant was nothing special, the menu looks impressive but the food was definitley not worth the prices charged. Although I had no issues with the food myself, several of my colleagues were unhappy with the quality and some even sent food back. I would recommend sticking with the bar food. Breakfast was good with lots of choice, my only complaint is that there appeared to be only 1 member of staff waiting on tables on all 3 mornings and it sometimes took a while to be served if wanting to order hot food.
In all, I would stay here again for business but not for leisure - not that I would visit Lowestoft for leisure mind!
