“Dont be misled - dont pay a cancellation plan - deposits non returnable under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES”

We booked a 5 day holiday for 3 people in April 2011 back in November 2010 . we paid 300 pounds deposit for 3 people and booked 2 rooms on the ground floor. We also paid a40 pounds cancellation plan . My disabled son with Complex needs died on 24th December 2010 . i informed the Bond booking team to be told the deposits were non returnable under any circumstances. I have now been offered one hundred pounds as a "gesture of goodwill" in my exceptional circumstances if I book another holiday at the Bond - why would I ? My sole reason for going there was to give my disabled son a holiday and change of scenery . Insensitive or what ?

Dear Wendy,

I have recently taken over as sales manager here at Bond Holidays and have been made aware of your situation with regards to your cancelled booking. Firstly may I offer my sincere condolences for the loss of your son from both myself and from the family who own Bond Holidays. Secondly can I also apologise for the way in which the cancellation of your booking was dealt with under our previous management team.

Our cancellation plan is optional and is available with all of our holidays and under the terms of the cancellation plan it does state that deposits are non refundable. On all of our booking forms we do also recommend full travel insurance cover with full details listed on the reverse of your booking form. As a company we do actively seek to rearrange holidays for those who cannot make it due to poor health to a time when they are able to come and fully enjoy their stay with us.

On this occasion this should not have been offered and given the circumstances surrounding your cancellation we should have refunded your deposit at the time. I have looked your paperwork out today and I will be arranging for the full deposit to be returned to you. If I can be of any further help regarding this issue please do not hesitate to contact the hotel further.

Kind Regards
Sales Manager

“A friendly place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2010

The St Annes Hotel is run by the Bond Hotel in Blackpool. The latter is in a noisy position and feels tired. By contrast the St Annes is much better if you want just a bit more space and less hustle. We found the staff extremely friendly. The lights and bed didn't work when we arrived in our designated room and we were immediately moved to a ground floor room where everything was fine. The room was quite spacious and the beds comfortable. The food was adequate - nothing *very* special but nothing really too wrong with it. The restaurant was in the basement which didn't seem ideal but was OK. Minor quibbles - the TV in the room was a bit too small to view properly from the bed - the non-alcoholic choices at the bar could have been better but these are minor things and overall the place is excellent.

“Lovely family hotel”

I have stayed at this hotel 6 times now, sometimes twice a year and have always had a fantastic time. The rooms may be on the basic side, but are clean and serivable. There is choice of bed combinations, with family suites, rooms with extra room off and multi bed rooms. I have stayed in all these combinations and have been pleased with all. I always state on booking the room type that would work best and they have always accomodated this requirement. The food is on a self service basis and I must say an excellent standard. My children are pleased with the different variations of food and always cooked an excellent standard.

The entertainment is perfectly suitable for young and teenager children, my age range is 1 to 14 years and all are very satisfied with magicians, party games, discos etc. This is only the early evening entertainment, this is following by bingo and then family caberet entertainment. There is a supervisor 'make and create' room, play room for unde 5s, games room and movie night. All this for a reasonable fee.

The location is perfect, near to amenities such as movie theatre, bowling, soft play, pier, fair, water sports etc.

Great family holiday - will definately go again. Might book now ........

“Perfect for families”

This was a real gem. Location is close enough to Blackpool 10 minutes in a taxi £10 to the tower for 7 people. Right on the seafront opposite a fully working pier with all the usual amusements and cafe.
In the summer the beach has donkey rides etc. 5 minutes walk is a bowling alley, cinema, mini fairground, cafes, pub with soft play, crazy golf. The town is 5 minutes walk with a good mix of supertmarkets clothes etc. Next to the pier is statue of Les Dawson. The hotel breakfast and evening meal were fantasic, buffet style eat as much as you like including steak !! Puddings have their own counter usually 8 or more plus hot options. The entertainment is superb for children during main season or school holiday times. Early evening party games disco or magician etc run by very commited staff who seem to remember every childs name, daytime activities, craft room with regular acitivities. Followed by bingo and family caberet. Most small children stay up with parents until the end. Has a small basic swimming pool with deep and shallow end. The rooms are hit and miss Ive stayed 6 times and got a variety of rooms, family rooms, units, annexe etc I like to ask for a room which is close to the main stairs or lift because their are corridors and firedoors which seem never ending. But on the whole for a family destination this is the best Ive found in the UK for food, value and entertainment.

“excellent disabled friendly welcoming hotel”

I have just returned from a week long stay with my family including my disabled wheelchair user husband and 3 children aged 10,9 and 3 years. This is the best holiday we have had in the past 10 years, the hotel offered everything for my husbands needs and more if needed. The food was excellent could not fault and plenty of it. The rooms were spacious and clean, and cleaned daily throughout our stay. Evening entertainment was exceptionally good. The management and staff were first class friendly and couldnt do enough for you. This hotel is expensive but were every penny. Just looking forward to my next visit.

There is very little for young children but they are kept amused by the dedication of the staff and management. My children enjoyed it just as much as my husband and I.
