Arrival late Sunday evening for a funeral the next day. Friendly and informative welcome. Spotlessly clean.
Two blokes, one probably looking fresh out of a "boot camp", the other looking like he ran it. We felt like part of the family when we left on the Tuesday morning.
Sharing Jenny and John's home very special and warm.
Smokers but a spotless "ashtray" - a washed tin can with label removed provided for outside use - lovely touch. The two of us shared the top floor suite. Beds so comfortable as to not wish to leave them. Room requirements requested. Service earnest, honest and totally inobtrusive.
Local taxi company very helpful indeed. Good pub with good food in Ross-on-Wye - The Man of Ross, near to St. Mary's Church. Excellent curry restaurant in nearby Monmouth. Very good coffee shop/newspapers/etc. 30 seconds to one minute walk from Portland House.
The Cross Keys pub perhaps three miles away recommended Portland House to us. Another great pub worth a visit.
Beautiful countyside. Very friendly locals.
Exceptional breakfast. Freshly cooked to order exactly as requested. Well done to all!!!
We have good friends who live in mansions within hundreds of acres of estate. We have good friends who live in council flats. We have eaten in the highest grade of restaurants and possibly the worst "greasy spoon". Stayed in the highest class of hotels.
Rather stay at Portland House.
Hope to return to Portland House in December 2011
Haven't mentioned wonderful Jess because everybody does - oops, just did!
