“stunning view, friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

This is a lovely hotel with lovely sea views. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the hotel duck pond and then to to sea, would strongly recommend you go for a balcony - even in October the hotel was hot and we had the balcony door open all night. Food in the restaurant is good. The hotel pool is a bit dated and needs a bit of an overhaul, but overall a lovely hotel, lovely position and staff very friendly and helpful.
A very relaxing short break.
A bit disappointed in Salcombe however, seems to have been totally taken over by Jack Wills shops and Jack Wills look alikes - we counted 11 such shops and very few 'normal ' shops - a bit like a sailing Disneyland - and used to be such a lovely place!

Room Tip: Balcony is great bonus

“Bliss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Our two day break in October was wonderful. The Tides Reach is everything a hotel should be. The location is beautiful. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. The food looks like Masterchef, and tastes as good as it looks. Another reviewer was dissapointed with the style and decor of the hotel. Well I don't care about that because our stay was absolute bliss!!

“We love this hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

This was our fourth stay at the Tides Reach and on each visit we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Not cheap but well worth the money. The appearance of the hotel from the outside is not that attractive and the inside has a certain 60s charm. The restaurant is outstanding and the longer you stay the better table you get! Dog friendly which is important to us. The staff, particually in the restaurant, are very friendly and helpful and always have time for a short chat. The rooms are a good size and very comfortable. We always try and select a balcony room with those magnificent views of the estuary. There is a nightmare approach to the hotel with steep hills and little room on the road and you always pray that nothing is coming the other way but you get used to it. We shall be returning next year.

“Stunning Location, charming hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

Had a relaxing overnight stay here in October, booked at the last minute by phone. Staff were friendly and helpful, Estuary room was large and comfortable with a stunning view. We had the beautiful pool and jacuzzi to ourselves in the evening and the following morning. We would definitely return for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Estuary room had a good view

“enjoyed our short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We enjoyed our one night stay on our way to cornwall. Had had lunch by the duck pond on a previous occassion and decided to return for an overnight stay. Lovely location, tucked away but still right on the coast, had a small beach across the road and a ferry boat from the beach to the main shopping area. The hotel is a bit dated, but i wonder if thats not part of its charm. The room we had overlooked the pond and garden area which was lite at night and lovely to admire. Both lunch and dinner along with the breakfast was very enjoyable and the service was very good with plenty of waiting staff who were on the ball, only down comment was they had run out of some of the items on the menu. As we have found before with this type of hotel there doesn't seem to be much going on in the evening after your meal. There is ample free parking.

Room Tip: Some of the upper floor rooms have balconies
