So I am back in the UK for a one month holiday from Nicaragua, and wanted to get down to the coast for a few days.
I decided on the YHA Salcombe, and was very pleased with my decision.
The hostal is in beautiful surroundings, with a stunning view over the bay. It makes for a wonderful spot to sit with a beer and reflect over the view. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are basic but clean and perfectly fine.
The hostal is about a 40 minute walk from the centre of Salcombe, which is a bit of a trek, especially as there are some quite steep hills, but as long as you don't mind that aspect, this place is ideal.
My only major criticism with the place is the the fact that the hostal grounds are run/shared with the National Trust. This means that, if you are at the hostal between 10am and 5pm, you can be treated a bit like a second class citizen. That being said, the area of Salcombe is so beautiful you probably wont be at the hostal during the day, but this is worth considering in case you will be.
Overall I had a fantastic few days, and was very happy with the accomodation.
