Its not often when travelling internationally you experience genuine customer service and quality food from locals who give unreservedly and without some level of practiced dialogue for tourists but this exists at Browns Tavistock. A 9 day business conference recently saw us stay at this quaint historic Inn with amazing food prepared from local produce where nothing was too much for seasoned and demanding travellers. I will return but next time will allocate enough time to spend exploring the historic town and region.

Phil and Helena owners of the hotel are the best hosts you could have. It's like home away from home. The service and staff are fantastic. The rooms are uniquely decorated with all the small touches you would expect from this very quaint inn.

Having just spent a week at Browns in Tavistock, I can honestly say I was really disappointed when I had to leave.

From the smell of wooodsmoke on arrival and wonderfully warm welcome I personally received, Browns let me know it would be different from the stream of dull, characterless Hotels I often have to stay in.

Other reviewers have described the location and the stunning food etc. but for me, it's the people that make a place.

Without exception, Helena and her team were quite simply fantastic throughout. Everyone was wonderfully friendly and extremely attentive whilst managing the perfect balance of not being obtrusive. Our group had the occasional last minute request but absolutely nothing was too much trouble for the team. It was just like staying at home with family and friends, but with better food and no arguments!

I'm looking forward to my next vist.

Stayed here for our 10 th wedding anniversary. Took a four poster room. All was good, a well kept if small room, and the bar and restauarant were very pleasant. Nothing outstanding though, and a little pricey for what you get.
