“nothing grand about this place!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

stayed on 2nd feb, coldest night of the year, the room was freezing, no heating , just a halogen heater that was useless, the bathroom was sparse , no heating at a all, the foyer was slightly warmer, when having a coffee a down and out came in off the street begging.

I got it cheap on late rooms and didnt exect much , but warmth and heating is paramount, i didnt expect to have to sleep in my coat......

keep well clear of this place, it is no where near a 3 star,

i did not eat there as i had an important meetingthenext day.....know what im saying?

DO NOT GO THERE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..for £10 more i could have had a premier inn down the road!

Room Tip: dont go there

“Not a 3 star hotel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

As a general point I thought the hotel was somewhat mis-sold to me. I don’t agree that this is a ‘3 star’ hotel – I wonder when the AA last inspected it!
I am aware that paying £55 you shouldn’t expect the Ritz but, with other hotels close by being the same price for a much better experience and much better quality the price for the level of accommodation I experienced was not justified.
You should really take a leaf out of the book of the basic hotels which are close by – the Premier Inn is better, and cheaper.

Specific Issues:
- Service: Sloppy – Chip and Pin was not available for a start, secondly what was the low rent receipt all about and, most important for us my partner was attending an event the next morning and specificallly asked if Porridge would be available for breakfast and was advised ‘or course it will’ – and of course it wasn’t – this was an issue. If I had have known in advance I would have gone to McDonalds in the morning for a much more superior breakfast.

- I was not informed that there would be a VERY loud disco downstairs right under our room – the VERY loud music didn’t stop until around 1am – I had one of the worst night’s sleep ever experienced in a hotel…it was so loud that fixtures in the room were occasionally shaking. This was so bad it was laughable

- The room was dirty – stained carpet, very nasty kettle which we simply didn’t want to use, unclean bathroom (hair in the bath), the shower was either boiling or ice cold….boiling only after a few minutes of running it, rot in the shower screen. It was a good job there was no main light in the room, and that I didn’t decide to inspect fixtures a little more closely – I think the results would have made me want to leave and sleep in the car

- Digital TVs don’t cost much anymore – we had a very basic TV – and we had to push the volume right up to try and drown the disco noises down

- Breakfast – not good really. Service itself wasn’t bad but your management must have realised that Toughguy was being held and you should have catered for it….all those down for breakfast looked to be taking part…no porridge (vital for pre event nutrition), nasty cheap jugs of coffee, no tea pots (didn’t want to pour tea from a jug!), toast was horrible and cheap. This was such a letdown I didn’t want to eat….and suffered for this later in the day.

- The icing on the cake – as we only had one toilet roll (which wasn’t a full one when we arrived) we ran out – I decided to use the Gents toilet on the first floor – please check the cubicle nearest the outer wall and remove the soiled stains off the door – it looks horrible.

If you want to keep the 3 stars you’ll need to pull your socks up…….

“Never again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

checked into my room with my partner room number 078, room was freezing cold, bathroom was tiny. I Asked to be moved from the room due to no heating, was told hotel is fully booked. external heater which did not work was provided. demanded money back was told "i am busy at the moment and so is the manager". got a full refund from the manager who was nice and polite.
i will not be staying here again, i wouldnt recommend it even to a homeless person. customer service was very poor and the condition of the room isnt upto standard..

Room Tip: choose another hotel!

“WHAT a JOKE!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

Reason for staying for One night only (thankfully) was a Family Member having their Wedding and Reception at The Molineux Football Ground just Round the corner.
We had a Block Booking of a number of rooms for members of family. So it was worth a few pounds to the place. OUR ROOM...... Small Pokey and Dark. In the en-suite the Shower screen and bathroom was DIRTY the floor had not been swept signs of Hairs! and Dust !!!!! The Net Curtains in the Room were not just dirty they were DISGUSTING!!!!!! The 2 Dead Pillows that were present, one was Not just stained like its partner But BROWN overall. The Duvet Cover CLEAN ENOUGH but the Duvet inside was UGH and approx 20mm thick. The Bed Large enough but Mattress should have been SKIPed Years ago, I Got off the bed with the impression of a Bed spring in my knee and my Back in absolute AGONY....... The Supply of Tea, Coffee Milk etc was a joke and when asking for more that was a hardship...... Breakfast That was OK but not as good as OURS ....... The Reception Staff/ Girls where LOVELY....... Its Not Difficult to keep a Hotel Bedroom Up to a acceptable standard!!!!!!!!! WE KNOW we own one.

Room Tip: Just Don't Go To The co-naught.

“americano { ameri - can -not } restaurant”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

I cannot comment on the hotel itself but had to share my views on the Ameriano restaurant.
This is the second time that myself and a party of friends have been for a meal , and apart from a few mistakes with meals last time , we enjoyed ourselves so decided to go back again to celebrate a birthday.
Oh dear , never again. we booked a table of 14 for 7.30.
Starters were fine , we then had to wait till 10 o clock for the mains to arrive .
Now i dont mind waiting for well cooked fresh food , but what we got was far from it , two of the party got nothing at all.
We had well done steaks that were rare , even after three attempts .
Two cold button mushrooms instead of grilled portabella mushrooms.
Non exsitant port and stilton sauce.
Normal chips instead of chilli and hot pepered chips , and that was just mine and my wifes , the list goes on and on.
In fairness to the Manger , after a brief discussion he agreed to us leaving without having to pay for the meals or drinks that we had consumed while waiting.
We would much rather have paid and had good food , but left feeling hungry and a great sense of disappointment , never to return again.
