I was at a conference in Yeovil. I should have got directions to the hotel, because although it is fairly central in the town and I saw the name of the road, I had to drive around the one-way system a few times to reach it. because of a pedestrian area.
I stayed in a single room which was clean and comfortable. It had rather a cell-like feel because the window was small and high up, so the view was a patch of sky. The decor was muted and the pictures were sombre black and white photos. But it was only for one night.
I was tired so decided to eat in the hotel. I enjoyed the meal and thought it was good value. The service was friendly. There was plenty of choice for the cooked breakfast and no need to get up early because they continue serving later than most hotels. The hotel has been refurbished and tastefully combines modern with traditional.
I was looking forward to finding some interesting local shops in Yeovil, but was disappointed; it was very ordinary. The best shop I discovered was a butchers located a bit away from the main high street.
Room Tip: I tsayed in room 5
