We stayed here recently to go on the nearby Hook Norton brewery tour (also worth a visit if you're in the area!)
The hotel is in a great location near the main high street, and just near Banbury Cross. Along North Bar St you have a few lovely little restaurants and tea rooms as well. As it happened we didn't really need to sample much outside the hotel, as we pretty much had all we needed right there in the hotel. Arriving at 2ish we checked in and had a lovely lunch in the hotel bar from their extensive lunchtime menu, with a couple of pints of Cromwell Ale to wash it down.
Rooms:
We had a lovely feature room which was at the top of the hotel on the 3rd floor. It was a converted attic so had very low ceilings (didn't bother me as I'm 5ft 2 but if you're much over that then you'll need to watch your head!)
The feature room was charming, looked out over the high st and was wonderfully cosy with an extremely comfy bed!
The hotel staff were always warm, friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. Our evening meal at the hotel restaurant was a very succulent steak and accompanying veggies, a tempting selection of home made puddings - washed down with a lovely bottle of red.
All in all, a wonderful romantic weekend away for me and my husband, I'd love to stay here again when I next visit Banbury.
