“Great food - average room.”

We stayed for one night to break a journey from London to Birmingham. The pub side of the business and in particular the food - is excellent. The breakfast was one of the best we have experienced and we are very fussy - we run a B&B!! The rooms were not so good. They have added a very large extension which looks good from the outside but is very average in the inside. Small, stuffy and disappointing.

“Good value for money”

We stayed at this hotel on Saturday evening and had a good experience. We booked via an internet offer and were pleasantly surprised with the service we received, our room, and all meals. The only slight issue was the very hot bedroom despite turning down the radiator. Noisy at night as we were near the road but otherwise a very good weekend and we will return. Compliments to the Chef for the Wild Mushroom Risotto - it was one of the best I'd tasted - thank you.

Room Tip: Perhaps choose a room to the rear of the hotel if you are a light sleeper..

“Great location on edge of Cotswolds”

Stayed here for two nights. The first night we dined in the hotel and the food was average. Dining area has a nice feel but quite a few foreign staff, so as with a few of the staff who come to work in the hotels in the UK, they just don't seem to have any personality so you seem to receive a frosty cold type of service. The rooms are clean and good size and quite a bit of parking behind the hotel. On the 2nd night the Manager was present and the service and general feel in the hotel was so much better and it is because of this that I would consider staying again if we were in the area.

“customer service alive and well”

Booked in for 3 nights half board. Just before going received phone call to say they had a special music evening one of the nights and their restaurant wasn't available. However, offered alternatives either at a local restaurant of our choice or at their sister hotel 3 miles away with taxi provided and this is what we went for. Hotel itself was fine, had a large room, spotlessly clean, and although few minor niggles nothing that would stop us staying again. Food in their restaurant was above average and staff both friendly and helpful. The meal we had at sister hotel was excellent. When we paid our bill came the surprise as on checking it I noticed they had only charged for 2 nights. Querying this they said that as we had been inconvenienced by their restaurant not being available they were only charging us for 2 nights!! Obviously this influenced to some extent our judgement of the hotel but to be fair even before we knew this we had said we would like to return to the area and would probably choose the same hotel.

Room Tip: Some rooms face a fairly busy road - we didn't find it a problem but some may. Also some rooms a...

A large number of rooms were booked for a village funeral in October. Some confusion between organiser and the reviewer but we managed to source a room for the Friday night and the original suite fot the Saturday as booked. Both rooms are popualr with regular guests - no complaints but we will certainly address your comments. The Deddington Arms staff take pride in their cleanliness and sevice standards.
